Ordered the Aglio Olio Bacon Lunch Special - Pepperoncino Sauce with Bacon and Rucola - it came with a simple salad and free refills from the drink bar. Actually that was what I needed most - to be hydrated with lots of iced cold sugar-filled carbonated drinks after “stalking” birds (with my camera) at Pasir Ris Nature Park for the entire morning...!! So hot...!!

Had the Almond Croissant while my kids had the original. Anyway, my Almond Croissant had flaked almonds sitting beautifully on top and a bite into it - you will get this delicious lemony almond frangipane - and the pastry was flaky but not overly sweet. This was probably one of the best croissants I’ve had - ever!!

And if you didn’t order any coffee - you can help yourselves with still or sparkling water at the water dispenser! .
The only think I didn’t like was the price - $9 for a croissant...!! Hmmm...

Well, we looked for a crowded restaurant! Had dinner here at Melbourne’s Chinatown before catching a musical “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” at Her Majesty Theatre. The food was decent - not great - but I wonder why it’s so popular...? I had the Beef Noodles and the broth was blend. I was particularly disappointed with the service though. Waiters and waitresses serving and walking around like zombies - looked grumpy and no smiles - and I had to ask for a refill of hot water for my Chinese tea 3 times before the 4th responded to my request. In addition to that - we were done with our dinner and was trying to finish my hot tea - and I was told to hurry as there was a long line waiting for a table. Well, if I even go to Melbourne again - and I believe I will - this is definitely one restaurant that will be on my list of places NOT to go...!!

Was planning to have Tendon at Tendon Kohaku but my daughter didn’t think she could finish the bowl of Tendon - so, we ended up at Nanbantei (at the Chinatown Point outlet) instead.

Haven’t been to this Yakitori place for a long time - so it was nice. Ordered the Yakitori Bento Lunch Set A that came with quail eggs, chicken balls, chicken and leek, okra wrapped in bacon, and pork and leek. Have always enjoyed it - but found the chicken balls a little salty this time....and also wished they gave more rice..!!

The rice bowl came with a generous portion of thinly-sliced Iberico pork belly, an onsen egg, a handful of seaweed strips and sprinkles of spring onion atop a bowl of rice.

The char-grilled taste was so evident - you could even smell it even before I was served. The meat was tender but it was tasteless. Did they forget to season the meat...? Maybe not, cos there were several bottles of sauces of different kind at every table. It helped! Was wondering though - if they have grilled the meat - where were the grilled marks - looks kinda pale, don’t you think...??

Well, the acidity of the citrus fruits helped to balance out the sweetness of the meringue - but I still found the tart to be a tad too sweet for me - however, those with a sweet tooth will definitely love this...!!

Had the famous Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak - Ordered the “Full House” - Basmati rice, chicken wing, otah, fried egg, ikan bilis, and the sambal chilli. Really enjoyed the chicken wing - perfectly fried - it was crispy and well-marinated with turmeric and spices that made it so flavourful that you wished you had ordered two - or even three!
