Coconut Steamboat Coconut Steamboat (~$37 for 3pax) @chickenlegendsg is probably the first to have this concept of using coconut water for the soup base. Great if you want something light on flavour but if you are a haidilao addict like me, try this only after you have had too much rich food in the week😂 or if you want something light on your wallet! The small set at $20 comes with half a kampong chicken🐓, 2 prawns 🤔, crabstick, mushroom balls and assorted veggies. I would say pay the extra $9 for the large set which comes with a whole chicken instead. Definitely add on the meat platter for $12 but luncheon meat and cocktail sausages being included in this platter may not have been wise. Salted egg fish skin at $5 makes a great starter! Overall, expect the soup to taste flavourful only after most of the food have simmered in it.

Coconut Steamboat ($37 for about 2 pax - what u see in the picture) at Chicken Legend (15 Upper East Coast Road). If you are looking for a healthy,"Cheng" and light version of steamboat, this is it. Took us awhile to wrap our minds ard the fact that we are drinking coconut water as soup. But as the dinner progressed, the soup evolved from sweet to have a more savoury flavour. Coconut Steamboat Chicken Set 🌴 ($20/1-2pax) This place uses... coconut water as a soup base?🤔 Skeptical as first but definitely a novel concept, this ala carte steamboat eatery in a corner coffeeshop was quite packed by the time we finished our meal. The soup base was actually really mild, with a sweet aftertaste (which is when you go, there's the coconut). 😂It really gets better as you start cooking the meats and getting more flavours into the soup. Two hungry people would easily devour the smaller chicken set, so if you're feeling ravenous, opt for the chicken set for 3-4pax at $29. We also added on a sliced meat platter at $12 but I'd recommend just ordering the sliced pork belly on it's own as the beef was slightly chewy. Overall a very healthy tasting meal that won't burn a hole in your pocket! 🙌

Laksa Pasta ($15.90++) Been hankering after laksa pasta for a while after Badoque removed it from their menu. This is an awesome one with linguine done al dente in creamy, lemak sauce. Comes with four good sized and crunchy shrimp, a few clams. Garnished with cress (which I adore, but may taste too "green" for some).

Nagoya Chix Burger ($14.90++) Juicy, deep fried chicken, drizzled with super tasty Nagoya-style dark miso sauce. So glad they use thigh meat instead of dry chicken breast ! They were also happy to replace the normal fries with sweet potato fries.

Chendol Gula Melaka Waffle ($13.90++) Not waffle, not cake, but BOTH 😱 Waffle could be a bit more cooked but overall guaranteed to satisfy that sweet tooth. You should probably go to the gym the next day though.

Yakitori Bliss The Skewer Bar is behind some creative dishes on their menu at super worth it prices. This set B ft. unagi, chicken karaage, shiitake mushroom, onsen egg and two chicken yakitori is so well executed and full of umami (~$10). Give their stuffed taupok with cheese a try too! Grilled Japanese Squid, Eggplant With TSB Chilli, Shishamo Skewer (not Pictured), Rye Pints The weekends have been so enjoyable as of late #1, with time to roam Geylang on a Saturday evening to hunt for food (not advisable to do alone as a female). The Skewer Bar was my take out choice for my birthday this year aka when our nation went into circuit breaker mode, so to be able to dine in at the restaurant-bar this time round was something to be thankful about. The ability to plow through a menu, discover new items in successful rounds of orders- choosing to add on and having the liberty to order again was something we did not appreciate before. TSB delivered just like they did as a takeout option- some of the items I’d return for was this piping hot grilled eggplant with kick ass chilli; tender grilled squid and the shishamo - oh that glorious beads of egg roe within and a crisp exterior.

Four Ton Chawanmushi- $4.50 Four types of eggs = four types of cholestrol? This is absolutely eggy. A good table snack to have! Sharing a chawanmushi is always interesting. Everyone has to use that same teaspoon.

Lunch [East Coast, Singapore 🇸🇬] [Italian Cuisine] The outlet was located just across the bus stop. There’s both indoor air con and outdoor alfresco dining area. As it was rather hot that day, I decided on indoor which was a welcome relief from the hot blast outside. The restaurant had a rather traditional look with photos and products framing the walls. The restaurant had a relaxing feel with soft music in the background. Service was smooth and swift. The menu had quite a wide variety with a section on homemade pasta where one could customize the pasta dish. There’s also a wine list available too. I was served with iced water and toasts with olive oil dip which were complimentary. Food was served quite fast. The cannelloni ricotta e spinach (S$25.90++) which was a rare find on the menu, was well cooked and tasty. The serving may looked small but it was just nice for me. Nice Crab Pasta Nice Crab Pasta with quite a lot of crab meat & tossed with tomato base. Wine list was kept really affordable. Pizza however was a disappointment, cheese didnt really taste good.

Tiramisu Delight Authentic Tiramisu that goes light on the alcohol so that everyone (especially cocoa lovers) can enjoy this large slice of heaven! This place can be pricey so be prepared to fork out a little more for the Italian ambiance and friendly waitstaff. If you're looking to celebrate an occasion with good food and wine here's a good place to stop by!

South East Asian Fusion The two mains we ordered were good, but definitely overpriced.Thank god for the Entertainer app. We had the grilled ribeye and cereal tom yum salmom with mentai mayo. Enjoyed both very much, especially the salmon. Lots of stuff happening in that dish but it worked well.

Pandan Tiramisu When dessert calls we always want to try EVERYTHING on the menu. And we did (well there were only 2 options). This Pandan Tiramisu didn't really suit our tastebuds even though we love coffee. Maybe it was the Pandan twist. The coffee is strong, the cake a little too dense. I think I prefer my Tiramisu with more light cream. This was served with crunchy sticky caramel popcorn which can't really go wrong. #PluckSG

Rum centric and with a menu that's Caribbean influenced, it's a refreshing introduction to the usual bar food fare along club street. The menu is still in the midst of fine tuning and hence I found the ceviches to be a bit diluted in flavors, apart from the :: Camarones :: which festive combination of chili paste, coconut milk and generous serve of crystal clear prawns stole my heart immediately! Definitely a dish to have. That and the ::Pollo Dulce Y Picante:: too!

Lucky Mee Soup ($12 + $2 for 3 curry fishballs). I've always liked the local food offered at Sum Yi Tai, and it's speakeasy bar Mona Lounge on the second floor. And this Ipoh-style curry mee was one of their best. 🔸 This Lucky Mee brings close one of Ipoh’s time-honoured staples to Singapore, right to our homes with their islandwide delivery during the times when we most needed some comfort during the pandemic situation. 🔸 It's different from the local milky curry. It is of a light consistency, but still rich in flavour. According to Sharon @foodmanna, that gravy was made from chicken broth and a secret blend of spices. Each bowl is served with crispy roast pork belly, pork skin, cockles, and sprigs of mint leaves. Savoury, spicy and shiok.

Dim Sum Lunch! Back here after a really long time and catching up with friends I've known for over a decade. Guess I can say its a pretty good way to have my last Friday lunch of the decade! We had a great variety of dim sum but the stir-fried/deep fried options (in these pics) definitely stood out - mainly the signature XO carrot cake, deep fried squid tentacles and sze chuan pepper with white bait!

Chinese Mojito Slightly sour with some refreshing mint. It is on the pricy side at SGD 19.
