This is supposedly one of their specialties. Dry spicy chicken that's topped with mounds of red chilli and chilli seeds and other spices. Unfortunately, the dish was too spicy for me, but I can understand the appeal of it; for reference - if any of you had the dried crispy duck at yunnans, this is 3x more spicy. $14 for a generous portion.

This was really good. It's sweet and sour pork which Singaporeans and familiar with, that's fried with a crispy batter over it. In between the batter and the meat, there's this thick and somewhat mochi-esque layer that adds to the mouth feel. $14 for the entire plate, which was very reasonable due to the generous portion. Rating 7.5/10. Would most definitely order this again 😜

Place doesn't accept credit cards. But you can pay with cash, nets or paynow.

Fried eggplants with thick savoury sauce over it, rather different from the eggplants with sweet dark sauce that I have at local places or hawker centres. Cost $10

Crispy and slightly chewy, with a mouth feel that's very much like prata, albeit not as flaky. It's fairly flavourful on its own because of the scallions. However, one can dip it in any chilli oil sauce for an additional flavour profile. Should eat it while it's hot. Costs $3 Rating 7/10

Portions were quite generous; slabs of tender smoky meat with decent thickness. The meat wasnt dry either and retained some juciness. Priced at approx $9.

A safe menu option to order - generous thick cuts of chicken katsu and creamy egg topped over a sizable mound of japanese short grain rice. Price may be a little steep for some at about $15. Rating 6.9/10

I ordered it as a takeaway, would probably look more aesthetically pleasing if I ate it there.

Probably the third or fourth time here, although it's been a while since my last visit. I don't recall seeing them offering unagi previously, so we gave it a try. The unagi was pretty good, and could compete with some of the common restaurant chains out there. The rice however was somewhat dry and not quite the quality one would expect from japanese bowls. Still decent for the price of $12.90 Rating 6.7/10

The place has renovated its interior and reduced it's menu items. The prices have also increased since a year ago, but I guess it's still reasonable given the portions and inflationary circumstances.

The rice was fluffy and sufficiently lemak, that's paired with batter bits to give it a crunchy mouth feel. The chicken cutlet is crispy with a light enough batter, and the meat was still tender. Would have preferred for the dish to add some cucumbers, but the addition of onsen egg was a good choice. The chilli is slightly on the sweeter side. Very affordable with burpple one for one; approx $8 plus for two people. Rating 7/10

The place is tucked in an old quiet mall called bugis cube (not to be confused with bugis plus which is just diagonally across the street).

The final course and dessert of the deep duck secrets buffet course meal. This simple and unassuming bowl was the highlight of the entire meal. The beancurd had a good balance between the homely natural taste of beancurd with a slight hint of sweetness from the osthmantus and goji berry. I will come back to this restaurant just for this dish. Rating for this dish alone 8.7/10.

The rest of the meal was not too bad; do note that only the Peking duck dish is free flow and that the deep duck secrets offering is only valid till end of June 2022.

Second time ordering this after being very impressed the first time and having given a great review previously. However, consistency may be an issue here and the beef this time was somewhat ... lacklustre and didn't taste as great as before. The beef wasn't as juicy, and appeared to be of an inferior cut. Hope this was simply an anomaly. Service was good though. Rating: 6.7/10

Light and crispy batter with thick curry that is topped with pickles. The chicken was tender and juicy, and was decent in terms of favour. Priced at $12.90. overall decent, rating : 6.8/10

Do note that this place may take a while to serve the food though. This was on a Wednesday evening and it took slightly above 15 mins even though it was not terribly crowded. Not for people who want a quick fix.

Surprisingly good bowl of rice coming from a place that predominantly sells ramen. You can tell that they cook the rice with the stone bowl with the charred bits of rice, which gives it a good smoky flavour. There were some smoky charred bits of pork too. At $13.90, this offers very decent value. Rating: 7.3/10
