🍧 There isn't a particular stall I go to but the one near my place has won my heart, and this has always been my dessert when dining at the hawker. Thankful that it's still available today though not everywhere has it and my parents know how much I adore this bowl of old school red bean ice. The key thing is the condensed milk and well cooked red beans which gives a soft and smooth azuki texture. Imma big fan of this and glad that I have family and friends who shares the same joy as me. |

Who else is crazy over this too?
This salad bowl was introduced by a friend. It's the typical mix and match concept where you pick your own ingredients for a fixed price.
What I like about it is that you can go without a base. No more unnecessary lettuce to munch on and a larger quantity of the ingredients I actually like! I also like their wasabi mayo sauce. Not many salad stalls has wasabi mayo so it's fast becoming my favourite shop in CBD.
The Italian food at Canada Water Cafe is really pretty good. It helps that it is walking distance from my London home. The pappardelle that I ate was awesome. The pasta is made in house and it was cooked till al dente. I liked it that the sauce wasn't too sourish like canned tomatoes. In fact it was just right. Exactly the flavour I imagined. It's really worth a try if you are looking for good cafe Italian food. The pizzas are worth it too!
I enjoyed this Chia Porridge with Almond Milk (banana, hazelnut, chocolate). It's really a different experience from traditional Asian Porridge. Taste a lot like how we cook our oats. I was pleasantly surprised the flavours came together well since I'm not a fan of oats. There's adequate sweetness and I felt healthy eating it. The gripe was on the sucky service but if you can look past that, the food is good!
Knowing I can now pop into Caffe Fernet for lunch on a weekday is a big YAY!
It’s great to see they offer a Set Lunch menu with 2 and 3 course options priced at $36++ and $45++ respectively (coffee or tea is included in the latter) but I chose to have a couple of items from the a la carte menu instead when I visited today. One of which was this “Cauliflower Risotto Style” ($22++), something I’ve been lusting after since I spotted it on co-owner @indra_kantono’s instagram post. Very pleased to say it more than met my expectations.
The key differentiating factor of their risotto is it’s carb-free because the “grains” are actually shaved cauliflower. Therefore, they sit lighter on the stomach and isn’t as likely to trigger the dreaded post-lunch “food coma”. I also loved how aromatic and perfectly seasoned the saffron-perfumed, pecorino romano-thickened sauce was. Strewn with toasted pine nuts, fresh herbs, some chargrilled cauliflower and a few sweet sundried tomatoes, it’s as far from being mono-textural as you can imagine.
I ordered this expecting it to be exactly the same as the Atlas Coffeehouse one since they are run by the same owners. The Butterscotch Banana Pancake looks exactly the same. Taste wise though this one is more cakey. My preferred one is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I felt the fluffiness was overdone which undermined the nice vanilla ice cream. If you like fluffy cake-like pancakes which some people do, this might work for you.

Tried this fish and chips at Bistro136. They took over Oh My Tian at Boon Keng. I found the food to be decently competent for a neighbourhood cafe. In fact, it's quite an enjoyable plate of fish and chips! Prices are typical cafe prices which I felt were fair considering the food tasted acceptable. I felt they are worth a try if you are in Boon Keng.
This is a unique ice cream parlour where you can select as many flavours as you want for the same price. The best part is you get an instagrammable cone also or you can hand it to your loved one as a gift. I'd like to add that the flavours goes really well together. My cone wasn't sculpted too well but I've seen cones sculpted by other ice cream sculptors that looks really awesome.
Flavours: Pistachio almond/ Jasmine/ Blueberry/ Melon/ Banana milk/ Thai milk tea
The cheery colours of the mochi did manage to perk the mood of the eater!
Something light that i would recommend if ones need to satisfy their sweet tooth without being feeling too stuffed or bloated after eating.
The cakes and fresh bakes at Elan Cafe really looks mouth watering. If my stomach pocket and time will permit, I'll eat them all! We tried the carrot cake this time round. London cakes generally have rather sweet icing. Other than that, the cake is soft and spongy. You can taste the distinct carrot cake flavour with every bite.
I have quite a few things to say about their service. But the cake taste awesome!
It looks set to be the next popular dining spot among Muslim friends.
The Halal dining place seems to be able to capture the sweet spot with the provision of Western favourites and Asian comfort food, in an almost-hipster environment. Several of the dishes did remind me of Spize though.
I previously thought that the menu at Rayz Bistro would deter price-sensitive diners. It appeared there was some adjustment on the pricing to be more mass-market friendly.
