Best Dark Choc Soufflé in KL It doesn't matter if it's for lunch or dinner, the dark choc soufflé here is a must order. Perfect crusty top, warm moist interior, and velvety dark choc liquid at the centre, the dark choc soufflé (RM40) is amazing. The soufflé is decadently dark as it uses 70% single origin Pahang choc with choc ice-cream on the side. Mmm... 😋🍫 this is our absolute favourite soufflé in town! Highly recommended! Red Snapper slightly torched to melt the fat and bringing out a smokey aroma. Love how the chef gently knead the rice and fish together taking care not to mash everything, producing this amazing feeling where every single grain of rice is dancing along with the fish. I miss it and would willingly spare my mouth as their dance floor.

For Sushi Excellence This spacious 40-seater restaurant is a labour of Chef Hideaki Oritsuki's lifelong (knife)work and his excellent sushi keeps diners coming back for more. Nestled within ViPod Residences, the restaurant's top spot is a bar seat across from chef Ori — it comes with a conversation with the chef and a good view of his effortless sashimi-slicing. Bring a foodie friend who will match your enthusiasm in the experience. The omakase menu starts from RM350 and is the best representation of chef Ori's prowess. Thankfully, there are also the more affordable lunch sets available from RM128 that will still get you sushi made by the master. Go for the Iga (RM168) that includes eight pieces of chef specialty sushi with appetisers and sides. Deep Fried Kale (RM18) This kale salad will change your mind about this green. Bitter, yes, but that sweet and tangy acar vinaigrette does wonders to balance out the flavours. Love the added crunch in the dish from the nuts.

Roasted Pumpkin & Ricotta Tortellini (RM25) My favourite dish of the night! I’ve had this twice already and I can say it tasted even better the second time. The tortellinis – you can tell – are handmade and each come with a lovely bite. Poke into it and the ricotta is oozing out. Pumpkin was the perfect match for the cheese; sweet and light. I say eat everything on the plate together and don’t forget the creamy pumpkin sauce with curry oil – so fragrant!

The winged beans tossed in budu (fermented fish sauce native of Terengganu) aïoli and crispy shallots, the second photo of the carousel, is easily the winner of the lot. Look forward to tender pieces of grilled unagi and crunchy granny smith apples sandwiched between dehydrated seaweed — interesting and delicious! For a Weekday Rice Bowl Fix Drop by this modern Asian restaurant in Plaza Batai for weekday express lunches over mean rice bowls with stellar protein options – from tender beef to torched unagi, seared ginger salmon and more. Dive straight for the Beef With Seaweed Butter (RM27) and look forward to medium-rare slices of quality beef on seaweed butter rice, served with pickles and fresh veggies. Also good is the Japanese Fried Chicken (RM25) – deep-fried karaage in a creamy butter sauce. Ps. All lunch bowls come with a glass of ice tea.

Japanese Fried Chicken (RM25) Must-order for the chicken lovers. Super crunchy chicken slicked in a butter sauce with curry leaves, served with the same sides as the beef bowl – jammy egg, pickles, charred kailan, edamame and raw purple cabbage. Very satisfying.

For Spanish Yakitori in the City ICYMI: This Spanish yakitori bar has moved to a bigger location along Jalan Mesui, bringing with them the same delicious meats from the grill. Burppler Foodgazer attests they only use high-quality ingredients, so rest assured the meal is going to satisfy. Order the Chicken Skin (RM7), Iberico Pork Belly (RM12) and the Spanish Chistorra Chorizo (RM10). On seafood, the Spanish Octopus (RM22) is outstanding — smoky on the outside while tender. Having been around for awhile, this yakitori restaurant has a newly revamped Japanese setting and menu worth checking out • Given it’s already a reputable Japanese-Spanish yakitori dining spot, Palillos also serves a fantastic lunch set (either rice bowls or sandwiches) during the afternoon that may very well be one of the best Katsu Don in Kuala Lumpur • Both Katsu sets ordered met beyond expectations because of its batter that was so crunchy and light, not too thick just the way I like it, nice pork & chicken cuts and of course a portion worth every cent • Japanese meal also ain’t complete without at least a sushi maki, offering a fresh cut of sashimi in it • Also, thank you Palillos for the indulging dark chocolate mousse. For a True Malaysian Fine Dining Experience In case you haven't heard, Dewakan is the first Malaysian restaurant to make it to Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list this year. They've also moved to a spanking new location – find them on level 48 of the Naza Tower in KL. Expect a stunning fine-dining experience with over 10 courses in a special Tasting Menu (RM550) that changes with the seasons. Prawns Warmed In Starfruit Juice w/ Herbs The defining highlight of our 9 course dinner – undeniably beautiful to look at and truly innovative yet delicious. This bowl exudes exotic herbaceousness, with a fan of thinly sliced prawns cooked at a low temperature to maintain their delicate flavour, then rubbed on the underside with housemade coriander stem and salted lime skin paste, before being crowned with an aromatic bouqet of herbs such as ulam flower and cashew leaf. The warm pool of starfruit juice dotted with kaffir lime leaf oil complemented the prawns with nicely balanced astringency and sweetness. Exciting times for Malaysian cuisine. Taste: 4/5

Kid Goat w/ Petai-so I balked slightly at the almost blue portion of milk-fed kid goat, but, always game for game, I tucked in. What was good was the salty, pungent exuberance of the charred petai miso coating the meat. Pity there was so little of it. The cut of goat itself was a little too raw and fibrous for my liking. Taste: 3/5
