There are only 5 grilled prawns in the Grilled Prawns Mains ($25) and 3 slabs of pork belly in the Pork set. Water is additional $2 albeit refillable. Overall wasn't full from dinner and wasn't spectacular like the other reviews here. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes.
I went on a Monday night so there wasn't much of a crowd, great for the kiasi me in these covid times. My friend and I ordered battered snappers each and the portion was HUGE. However, we made a mistake because we didn't know it was fried and wanted to change our order. Thankfully, the restaurant was understanding and allowed us to change! Very very thankful! We then changed one of the snappers to miso salmon carbonara. Both food was soooooo good. Will come back again!
We ordered Fish & Chips and Seafood Marinara, total was $11.90 for 2. Massive portions and restaurant is quite quiet, good for groups or if you want to avoid crowds. If you're not a picky eater, definitely a budget friendly and value meal.
The Seafood Marinara comes with prawns, scallops and 1 mussel. Not bad for its price.
A filling and not-so-sinful dessert to end off the week!
$8.90 a bowl, these certainly didn’t come off as affordable though.
3 bowls of porridge with salted egg, steamed egg, omelette, spicy minced pork, cabbage, sweet and sour pork and steamed fish!
Most of the dishes were warm except for the sweet and sour pork, perfect for a rainy evening!
$29.50 for the entire table of feast
A fusion of rice with fried dory, runny egg, broccoli, spinach and eggplant! The sesame seeds drizzled over the dory added an additional crunch.
Discount available for TTSH staff and LKC students!
Got the Smoked salmon Florentine ($23)- poached eggs on a baked muffin with baby spinach, asparagus and hollandaise! Found this pretty ordinary, nothing much to wow about.
Overall, thought that Jones the Grocer is overpriced for the food it serves, but I guess sometimes we are paying for the ambience as well!
One of my favourite place to have a healthy bite!
Classic Caesar ($11.50)-
Romaine Lettuce, Grilled Chicken, Parmesan Cheese, Croutons,
Boiled Egg with Classic Caesar Dressing and wholemeal wrap. Shared half of this with my friend, and both of us agree that it taste very refreshing, though I must say anything with croutons all definitely taste good 😛
Martian Delight ($11.50) Romaine Lettuce, Roasted Mango Chicken, Pumpkin, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumber with Wasabi Mayo Dressing and wholemeal wrap. My go-to whenever I order Simply Wrapps! Absolutely love the tanginess of the mango with the chicken.
Love the ambience here in Dempsey hill, a great place to chill and hang out!
Mac and four cheese (+$24) + chicken ($5). Tasted pretty average to me as well, got a bit jelat at the end.
Lunch deal for 2 pax @ $19.90!
Nothing beats having army stew on a rainy and cold day! Using collagen stock simmered over many hours, I was certainly looking forward to the rich taste of the stew. The portion was a little too much for 2 pax, with sliced pork, cheddar cheese, cheese sausages, cheese tofu, enoki, toppoki, sweet potato noodles and cabbage! The spiciness level was just right as well.
The waiting time was quite long though, so do be prepared to wait during lunch time!
Swung by on Labour Day to reward ourselves in the sweltering heat! Decided to be adventurous and got the 'blue milk' and 'caramelised strawberry'. Blue milk is made up blue pea flower, milk and sea salt. It was very creamy and rich, and my tastebuds couldn't pinpoint what flavour did blue pea taste like! On the other hand, the strawberry flavour tasted very much like the one I had at Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm in Melbourne, and had a mixture of both sweet and salty 🙂
Ordered a shroom burger ($10.80), smokeshack ($10.90), shack-cago dog ($6.50), cheese fries ($5.90), vanilla shake ($6.90)
Came with really high expectations as this was my first time trying it. Queued for about 45 min and waited for 20 min for the food on a Monday afternoon.
I ain’t a beef fan, hence leaving me with the only choice of the Shroom Burger as my main. It was a pleasant surprise as I tasted the cheese oozing out of the mushroom! Otherwise, the patty was normal, nothing to hype about.
Free flow of ketchup and mustard sauce to pair with the burgers and fries!
Cheese fries is a must order, the crinkle cut fries was fried to the perfect texture and the gooey cheese tasted different from those cheap cheese and complements the fries really well!!
The milkshake is really sweet, would only recommend it as part of sharing/only if you have a reallly sweet tooth!
