Ayam Rendang Set with Vegetables If you familiar with the oldest Nyonya restaurant in Singapore, then you should know the name of Guan Hoe Soon. Straits Chinese is managed by Guan Hoe Soon Group and has a few outlets here. One of them is located at the second level of Esplanade Mall, serving their authentic Nyonya foods right at the centre of city. Since I came along, so I went for their rice individual set menu. The set comes with a plate of ayam rendang, chap cai and blue pea rice. They are flavourful but not distinctive enough as compared to some Nyonya restaurants I been to unfortunately. Best to come here in group and enjoy more of their dishes.

Overpriced Prawns Ordered the prawns for $20.80 and the serving was only 4 pieces! Also ordered the beef rendang which was quite dry.

Durian Pengat Each diner gets just this small portion. But okay lah it's not the best. It felt a bit not like real durian or not fresh.

Dessert Skyline Bought the Grass Jelly (Set G1) and Honey Aiyu Jelly (Set A1) dessert bowl at $4.40 with Burpple 1-1. The brown sugar liquid and lemon liquid toppings came separately packed. This is most ideal as it allowed us to add the amount to our liking. The bowls are pretty, decided to takeaway to enjoy them while watching the beautiful sunset at the bay. The good taste of the dessert makes our Singapore skyline even more beautiful. Compared to Nine Fresh, this is about $1 more expensive but with similar taste. But definitely, more worth it using 1-1

Absolutely Love Their Drinks! Hidden in a quiant neighbourhood lies yocha, that serves up pretty good bubble tea and ice cream! We had their teas this time round. The Roasted Sencha had a good smoky flavour and we love how the tea flavour is really strong! We wanted something refreshing, and the Yuzu Grapefruit Tea definitely quenched our thirst. Very aromatic yet citrusy, this is a must try! Be sure to get it using #burpplebeyond because the total bill for these 2 goodness was just $5.40!

BBT On A Hot Day Couldn’t resist a cold drink on a super hot and humid day. Lady boss is friendly. Went for the Lychee Earl Grey and Caramel Milk Tea this time at $4.90 (L), using 1-1. Topped up $0.80 x 2 for toppings. Well worth it! Really love the lychee taste!

Fish and chips Quite big portion of fish and chips. I also tried the cake, recommended to check this cafe out!

Iced latte I remember the location as fresh fruits lab and loved their stuff. Was surprised to see another cafe but realised it’s by the same people that owned the previous place. The coffee was fragrant and balanced. I will need to go back for food the next time. But I really liked the aesthetic it has a very French Bistro vibe Also the paper straw that they gave me didn’t disintegrate after a few sips.

Soft Shell Crab Burger ($19++) Crispy soft shell crab with lettuce, tomatoes and homemade chili crab sauce, served with fries and fruit salad .
