Perfect cappuccino from Toby’s Estate, while kiddo went after the scrumptious chocolate and banana croissant.
Triple choc, with whipped cream, fudge, and rainbow sprinkles. Don’t forget the choc chip cookie. For the kids (and adults to help finish!)
Generous slice of apple crumble. Was not overly sweet, chunky stewed cinnamon apples that still had very much bite, with raisins. Crust was beautifully crumbly and I swoped the usual vanilla for their salted caramel (whose sweetness complemented the crumble). Will order this again - possibly my favorite of their desserts!
Gorgeous fresh cream cake with sponge laced with Melaka. Sponge was dense and moist- a signature of Edith. They are not able to reduce the sugar as that will affect the texture of the sponge. Fresh adzuki beans used. My main complaint is that for a premium patisserie, they should be using authentic chendol made with coconut milk and natural pandan for coloring, instead of this electric green mass rubbish. Taste wise 4/5. Available in slices.
This gigantic biscuit (about 15cm diameter) with an obscene sugar rush was what two tired kids and one exhausted adult needed after walking around Universal Studios for most of the day. Verified junk food with out of the tin can sugared peaches. Taste is nothing memorable but did I remember the sugar rush. 1.5/5z
Part of Paul Bakery’s (Westgate) all day 3-course menu at $15.80++. This would be the highlight - starchy soup, choice of roast chicken, sea bass (small fish portion) or toast beef sandwich for main, and bread and butter pudding for dessert. Comes with home made iced tea. The pudding is a decent portion, moist on the inside, sufficiently custardy with vanilla sauce on top. Nothing stunning, but overall good deal for the price.
Given the hearty sounding description, I switched the spaghettini for linguini. The sauce is a meat stock-based brown sauce, in which the cheeks were probably stewed. The beef cheeks were fork tender, full of yummy collagen and a generous portion estimated at around 150g. This restaurant is known for its fusion cuisine and there was probably a hint of soy and garlic in the sauce. The potential gelat-ness was balanced by the tomatoes and fresh parsley. Definitely a comfort food at the end of a long day. Pricey at $28 but worth every penny. The restaurant also serves up a good range of wine starting at just $7.
Cheesecake $12 with a scoop of coconut gelato. Cheesecake was perfectly balanced - tasty graham, just enough sharpness on the cheesecake. Texture of cheese was not too dense. Salted egg with a grainy texture took prominence. Coconut gelato was a little too subtle to compliment. But flakes and crumbles added further texture contrast which was a nice touch. Nuttiness complimented the overall comfort mix.
Reuben sandwich at Nassim Hill - corned beef was only ok but combination is outstanding. Stout bread is very tasty - savoury and sweet with a perfect crust. They bother to sear their emmental.+sauerkraut. Final combi way better than wild honey.
