The simplest breakfast that beats them all. Crispy toast and most fragrant and smooth tea (or coffee I can’t tell) 😋

If you ever stumble into the small sleepy town of Rawang in the northeast part of KL.. you got to trust the grab driver when he tells you this is the best mamak in town.

.
This Thai style fried rice is decently good. Well fried without being overly oily. Fried flavourful fish.
.
.
Washed it all down w an iced cold drink!

At $18 per set lunch that comes with a soup, a main and an iced lime red tea (top up $1/$1.50 for coffee)
.
.
Dashi risotto and Juicy fried chicken is one of the mains you can choose from.
.
.
The risotto is delicious and full of flavour, while the fried enoki adds a nice crunch to the risotto.
.
.
Fried chicken is well battered and mashed potato is so smooooooth.😋

Except now there’s a 2 weeks special of Szechuan dishes! Chef du fei from Szechuan Shangri-la is bringing his take of traditional Szechuan cuisine to Singapore. Except he couldn’t bring ghost peppers to make his mega spicy mala sauce.
.
.
Aren’t you salivating while looking at these tantalizing Szechuan dishes? I especially liked the 口水鸡(mouthwatering chicken), it definitely makes you salivate and want more!
.
.
Not forgetting to mention, the line’s laksa is still the best I’ve had. I love the strong coconut milk in their laksa!
.
.
And their desserts as usual is some hits and a lot of misses 🙈 Strawberry litchi and a chocolate cake that I forgot the name were definitely the best desserts!

Finally something to look forward to in the neighborhood. Similar menu to the cheong chin nam outlet, except with more dessert choices.

.
They definitely do a good aglio olio for under $15 and a huge slab of chicken! 👍🏻

Basically foie gras with onion chutney on crystal bread. A must order at la taperia! The sweetness of the onion chutney goes well with the pan fried foie gras and the crystal bread adds a nice bite to the dish.

Marinated pork knuckle w soy sauce ($16) Super flavorful and tender meat that just melts in your mouth 😋
.
.
Deep fried stuffed crab meat in shell ($28) how cute is that crab shape holder! A crab croquette stuffed full with crab meat with onions and cream. It can get a bit jelat after a while but by the time you feel it, you would have realised that you have consumed it all 🤪

When all you want is some local comfort in the midst of Korean and Japanese food in Mont Kiara. Thin crisp thosai with a good mix of curry, Dahl and yoghurt sauces or an egg canai with different curries. 😋

They definitely win hands down with that fried chicken and crispy bits. But rice wise I feel like I could be more flavorful?
.
.
Nevertheless, wash it down with a nice cold neslo and kueh at the counter after lunch. RM 10.50 for Nasi Lemak + neslo.

There are supposed to be 8 colors on the plate. My favourite fashion for Yu Sheng must be the fried yam strips nowadays.and did I mention how much I love the freshness + sourness + crunchiness + sweetness of Yu Sheng?
.
.
☺️ I aim to eat 15 Yu Shengs to represent 15 days of CNY. I have 3 down.

For nondescript, small town, small coffee shop food.
.
.
Unlike the Singaporean Lor Mee, it is less starchy and has less fancy ingredients. It doesn’t have all the fried ngoh hiang and all but it has pork slices and lots of lardddddd.
.
.
They also serve a mean cup of kopi.
.
.
All for less than RM10 😱

When walking around and stumbling to a back alley coffee shop leads to amazing coffee! Just right next to the main Ban Heang shop and off Penang road is this quaint little busy coffee shop.

Toast is made by putting the breads into the fire in the charcoal pot. (Painfully long wait but worth it!) Saw brown colour bread too but was sold out just before I ordered 😩 and still have no idea what it is. The hainanese kaya is amazing!

Ordered a kopi c siew dai peng and was not expecting much but the coffee was super gao (concentrated) and there was a thick milky consistency to it and staying true to siew dai. 👍🏻👍🏻
