Still a hearty bowl of prawn noodles ($5) after all these years. The extra chili powder is a must. I prefer the tender, fall off the bone pork ribs over the prawns, which have had their essence sucked up by the soup. And that soup.. so sweet and rich you know it's unhealthy but that early death will be worth it. Read more at: http://eatify.blogspot.sg/2017/09/river-south-hoe-nam-prawn-noodle-lao.html?m=1
The name of this stall – One Ton Mee – at Bendemeer Market & Food Centre tickled my fancy so I decided to order from them. 😂
The kolo mee was actually pretty satisfying, and the large ($5) left me feeling quite full. While the noodles were a little dry initially, a little soup solved that quickly. Char siew wasn't like cardboard, which is a sin too many stalls are guilty of and the pork lard was 👌😂.
I don't know about you, but when it comes to Bak Kut Teh, I am all for the herbal, "black" style. Think JB, or better yet think Klang's standard (the home of BKT. I kid you not, they hold annual BKT competition to rank their BKT stores). Thankfully, Soon Huat is within the vicinity for my BKT quick fix. Soon Huat, is somewhat like Malaysian BKT and yet somehow lack the strong porky-herbal broth that I like. It is only good, when you need tea to wash down the BKT. Their dry version, fared better but it would great if it's slightly strongly. The meat portion is fairly generous, what's on the table is enough for 3 pax. And those large intestines are soft and well cleaned out with their slightly thicker braised sauce. Great meal overall, if you are sick of pratas and roti-johns when you are in that area.

Sanpoutei is one of my favourite haunts in Holland village. While they’re popular for their shoyu ramen, a mainstay of niigata, I really really enjoy enjoy their tonkutsu. Definitely one of the hard-core bowls in town, the noodles are thick and slithery and the broth has been reduced to such a consistency I wondered if its part of their mission to imbue as much pork as possible into the bowl.

The eggs have the hue similar to a golden sun are flavorful and beautifully marinated. Served along thick slabs of pork, this definitely satisfies all kinds of cravings, and then some.

It can get pretty warm inside due to poor ventilation but it’s worthwhile trade off for entry into tonkutsu heaven.
If you are ramen lover, you gotta try this lobster ramen ($15.90 for Spicy Miso, $14.90 for Non spicy or clear miso), the soup has a really thick and creamy texture to it and the richness of the taste is so comforting and addictive 😭the pork belly is just so tender and really love their prawn wontons. Worth the visit , not just once.
Very nice. They're having a promo till year end offer $1.00. Original price $11.80, Now only $10.90
The chili crab was so good, especially the sauce which my dad loved so much that he doused all the other dishes with the sauce. The steamed crab with soya milk and egg white (which is soya beancurd really) was quite unique and I never had anything like that before. The sweet crab meat and smooth soya beancurd was just so good together. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to try something different.
Very filling, I couldn't even finish my rice. Tried my luck with the spicy version and it was surprisingly milder than I remembered.
Comes with yuzu-flavoured salmon, 2 prawns, and a whole load of mushrooms (yay)! Enjoyed the salmon, tho I wished the yuzu flavour was stronger. It remained moist and flaky and the batter was just right. Can't say the same for the mushrooms though. I love mushrooms, and I like how the different mushrooms give a different mouthfeel but sadly the batter of assorted tempura mushrooms was rather inconsistent - some had a slightly thicker batter, and my bowl of tempura seemed to be greasier and less crisp (some were actually soggy and nope I didn't leave it untouched for too long) than I recall from my last visit here.
Hoping it's just an off day!
Food is made when order is placed. Food sent via machine alike bullet train. They are pocket friendly.
This is a winner because of their generous portion and wide variety of marinated sashimi alone. I particularly liked the addition of the baby scallops which were really sweet and fresh. Also, plus points given to their freshly-grated wasabi!
Loveeee this kimchi pancake. Much better than their seafood pancake I promise you. It is a simple dish but it can go very wrong. (and I learned it the hard way) this one is not so doughy, has enough kimchi and even chunks of squid inside! Love the dipping sauce it comes with as well. So appetizing! Only drawback is that it's hugeeee, so good as a sharing dish for 4 pax!
