Lovely Lamb-shoulder ($24) This dish was a really pleasant one and all the elements came together really well. The lamb was perfectly cooked; it was really tender. While there was a slight gamey-ness (only a tinge) to the lamb, we like this aspect of it. The pomegrenate really gave a nice pop to this dish and an added brightness. Finally, the quinoa nestled at the bottom of the plate soaked up all the juices from the lamb, and made for a great mouthful altogether. MUST ORDER💯

Satisfying Scotch-eggs ($12) We don’t believe this is a dish that’s served that commonly in Singapore, hence we decided to order it. While not perfect, it was a pretty satisfying dish overall. The sausage did not have too intense a flavor to it, and was thankfully not overdone. The chutney seemed to be the star of the show, with its acidity and bite giving good contrast to the dish. However, we don’t think a scotch egg can be called as such without a molten interior. Also, these were only warm when they arrived at our table, rather than being served piping hot. Can Order👍

Terrific Truffled croque monsieur ($20) Serving this on a slightly sweeter slice of bread (Pilsner loaf it seems) turned out to be an amazing decision by the Chef as it paired perfectly with the myriad of savoury toppings packed within. The gems inside the sandwich included pulled pork, prosciutto as well as tallegio cheese. This was our first time trying this cheese but it’s intense flavor and saltiness really went well with the bread. MUST ORDER💯

Toss & Turn Cheese Wheel Carbonara ($16.90) pasta was cooked in a full round giant cheese wheel partially hollowed out into a bowl, tossing it in the cheese bowl will slowly melt the layer of the cheese, and viola! The result was a nice and cheesy carbonara. This is a highly recommended dish to order when dining here.

Hawaiian Fried Chicken excuse the bad quality photo but i forgot to take one in my excitement and had to use a screenshot in a vid) JK loved this one!! the panko crusted chicken thigh was moist and tender despite its crisp outer covering! the combination of the racelette cheese and the tomato concasse went so well tgt + the fried skin gave a varying texture which i rly liked! also, their sweet potato fries is super good (while fries are usually just a side this was really well done, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle)

Salmon Bowl A very stomach filling bowl. The fresh sashimi slices were topped with creamy Mentaiko mayo sauce and seared to its perfection. Salmon Poké was included in the bowl too with Yuzu Ume Rice mixed with greens salad, prawn roes, cashew, almond mix and yummy onsen Egg. With such a variety of yummy protein flavours, Salmon Samurai is definitely a health-conscious choice for lunch over in CBD area and their bowls of salmon are reasonably priced too.

Foie Gras As the chef was preparing this, we could smell the charring of the piece of foie gras 10 seats away, building the anticipation for the delicacy. Served sandwiched between sweetened apples and toasted bread, the foie gras melts in your mouth while the sweet aroma of apple lingers on in the aftertaste. Grilled Cheese Patty Melt ($26) A really good cheeseburger - but in a sandwich! Why have burger buns when you can have grilled cheese sourdough? The Blackmore wagyu patty was juicy, very tasty with the pastrami jam, garlic aioli and cucumber pickles. Very classic cheeseburger ingredients and executed well in this sandwich. Overall a good sandwich, slightly pricey but it was delicious so I’ll take that. Visited on a public holiday and at 11am, their tater tots were already out of stock! This eliminated many of their breakfast options, sadly. Would return again earlier to try their other options.

Pastrami Reuben ($26) So glad my friend and I shared the sandwiches at this place, because they are really generous with the meat! The smoked pastrami brisket was just overflowing in between the slices of caraway rye sourdough toast, it wasn’t too salty on its own but the sheer amount of it in the sandwich made it quite so, along with the provolone cheese. Fortunately there was sauerkraut and Russian dressing to cut through the salty and savoury notes. Overall a very tasty sandwich, would recommend to share otherwise the pastrami brisket can get quite overwhelming. Yuzu Matcha & Hojicha Like finally tried their ice cream after a long time. Bc I'm not staying at bedok so it's quite hard to try also 🥲. So I tried their flavour for tea flavour like Yuzu Matcha n Hojicha ($8.50). I saw a lot of interesting flavour out there also. I just like yuzu matcha a lot and got that strong yuzu taste > matcha. I felt that Hojicha was quite average roasted tea and not that strong taste tbh.

Delicious Unagi Tamagoyaki With Cheese Most people describe this place known for their custard puffs on burppler. But I was curious since tamagoyaki means grilled egg! I finally figured out that there are three ways to order tamagoyaki - ala carte, bento and value bento. Ala carte is a combi of 6 pieces of tamagoyaki with a protein - karaage, Kani, unagi, char siu etc. the amazing thing is you can ZENG your tamagoyaki with cheese or mentaiko for $2.90!! And you can’t do that with the bento sets (at least not stated on the menu). Bento comes with a protein, tamagoyaki and mushroom rice while super value bento comes with TWO proteins, tamagoyaki and mushroom rice. (Goes up to $14-15) my only grumble is where are the vegetables in the bento?? Can’t be a balanced diet if you only have protein and carbs and no fibers.. Of course, the best value of all is burpple’s offer of fry-yay bento for just $8!! Great if you’re looking for a full meal. For me, I just wanted a snack so I got the unagi tamagoyaki zeng-ed with cheese (YAY 😋). The unagi was seasoned just the right touch of sweetness and grilled with a little caramelized char!! And it went surprisingly well with my cheesy tamagoyaki. Which was amazingly soft and the cheese was melty! Also, it is still tasty after you reheat it in the microwave! 👍🏼 Can’t wait to try more variations and the mushroom rice!!

FRY-YAY everyday bento [$8] Available exclusively for the month of September, this special bento set differs from the usual options, providing the greatest solution to indulge in when you are spoilt for choices. Along with the signature tamagoyaki, there's also 2 pieces of chicken karaage (mine had 3 though 😁), 1 croquette and 1 tempura ebi served on a bed of umami mushroom rice. Do be prepared to wait for 10-15 min (depending on the crowd too) as the ingredients are freshly prepared and deep fried upon order. Though sinful, the variety of deep fried elements were done to a crisp and well breaded exterior. The chicken karaage was tender and succulent whereas the tempura ebi was fresh and juicy, with a panko crusted crisp exterior. The croquette too as well, had a golden brown exterior down to perfect crispness, withholding smooth, creamy mash within. Along with fluffy and subtly sweet Japanese pan fried omelette (aka tamagoyaki), the mushroom rice was flavourful with a pleasant earthy note, comprising of shimeiji mushrooms embedded within. . . . #burpple #smitteneats #smittenchoice

Currently in need of this Chimney Cake (a.k.a. Doughnut Cone). 🍦🍩🍩🍦 . If you've visited Artbox the past 2 weekends. You will see a long queue for this Chimney Cake with Soft serve. So much so that on the 1st day, they were all sold out before 8pm. Well, fret not people. You can find them at Scape.

Kürtőskalács aka Chimney Cake. It's a dessert from Hungarian. Made from sweet, yeast dough which is spun and wrapped around a cone–shaped baking spit & rolled in granulated sugar. Interesting, right? ☺ The best part? We can choose between sweet or savoury and in my case, have it with soft serve 🍦 Cone flavours are Cinnamon Sugar, Peanut or Oreo for Sweet, Garlic and Herb Butter with Mozzarella or Cheddar for Savoury. And we can decide to add in Nutella, Peanut butter or Cream Cheese for Sweet or Chicken Ham, Turkey Bacon or Salted Egg for Savoury. Being a sweet tooth, I chose to have mine in Peanut Butter cone with chocolate soft serve 😋😋😋 The cone is baked upon order and it's really interesting to watch it rolled in front of your eyes. Nothing to shout about for the 🍦 as I find it a bit too bland and melt too fast. But the chimney cake is really very yummy!! The crispy texture reminds me of Churro but Chimney Cake is slightly healthier because it's baked instead of fried. Will be back to try their savoury!! Without soft serve 😁

Ramen Risotto The ramen risotto looked fabulous but didn’t taste as exceptional as it looks. Umami flavours of the risotto got a bit jelak after a few mouthfuls. The mala pork (starters; not pictured) was lackluster - without its accompanying sauce, the pork is rather bland or “un-marinated”. Service was slow despite <10 customers in the cafe.

Ramen Risotto I really like the softness of their pork belly, topped with savoury bubble. The risotto itself wasn’t really overwhelming in the taste by accompany with seaweed and egg yolk. $24+

Bubbly Yuzu They literally took the bubbly seriously with lots of bubbles on top of the drink. But after clearing the bubbles, you will be greet by beautiful creation of yuzu drink with some flower petals on top. Definitely a refreshing drink for those who just finish their exercise at Kent Ridge Park. $8+
