first time trying this and it reminds me of tutu kueh (chinese version)! eat this while it is hot as the gula melaka is still gooey and warm and goes very well with the steamed white flour cake and salted grated coconut. i found their steamed white flour cake a little too powdery for my liking and preferred the texture of the chinese tutu kueh instead. i wonder why no one has thought of making the chinese tutu kueh in this way, with melted gula melaka and grated coconut on top, heh! putting that aside,do expect having to queue for this during peak hours!
major cravings for this plate of black fried carrot cake finally satisfied! 😋 this yummy plate of goodness is fried to perfection. the dark sauce used is of superior quality and each and every piece of carrot cake is enveloped with the black sauce, fluffy egg and pieces of ‘chai po’ and its also fried till bits of it is slightly charred. so gooood that it keeps me wanting more and made me wish i lived in the east! Prices start at $3 and $3.50 for extra egg. You can also add prawns at an additional cost.
handmade yong tau foo at its best, this is seriously the yummiest bowl of yong tau foo i’ve ever had! comfort food for rainy days 😋 the soup is tasty, with just the right amount of saltiness and a tinge of sweetness. enjoyed each piece of yong tau foo, especially the prawn balls and bittergourd topped with meat patty. be prepared to queue during peak hours. will definitely be back for more!
Fried carrot cake from Jimmy People’s Park stall and hokkien mee from Gim Chew Hokkien Mee stall. Both were yums! 😋
absolute comfort food for rainy days 😌 thick flavourful broth with springy noodles and yummy runny lava egg, without burning a hole in ur pocket 😋
frozen compressed espresso, served with warm milk and 10ml of balvenie whisky 😋
wish the taste was as pretty as it looked, was largely disappointed by the taste unfortunately. waffle was soggy and the vanilla ice cream had a weird vanilla essence kinda taste. not ordering this again. 😩
For late night dim sum until 6am! found their dim sum really tasty, reasonably priced and they also had a large variety of dishes and desserts to choose from. we ordered siew mai, har gao, carrot cake, chee cheong fun with prawn, prawn and banana fritters, fried beancurd skin with prawn, sweet potato ball with salted egg custard and coconut pudding. Queues can get long during peak hours, so be prepared to wait!
Opened by the folks behind Benjamin Barker. Their burger really wowed me - made fresh on the spot after you order. The fried karage chicken encased between the charcoal buns were fried to perfection (crispy + juicy) and coated with siracha honey. Coming together with the fried egg, cheese, truffle mayo and daikon slices, the taste was nothing short of amazing. The curry beef fries were yummy when eaten straight away while still hot, however became quite soggy after a while. Will definitely go back to try their other burgers! 😋
Under the same folks at Lola’s cafe but the space at OTB is much more spacious and chillax. Their truffle mushroom pasta was really tasty, good for sharing as it can get quite rich and jerlat after a while. Their honey wings were really crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside; plus the paprika powder really complemented the honey, giving our tastebuds a combined flavour burst of salty, sweet and a tinge of spiciness. Would be back to try their waffles & ice cream!
byebye llao llao (or maybe they’ll do a similar stunt as gongcha? 😆), hello yole! found their yogurt to be creamier and milkier than llao llao’s. the strawberry flavour seemed to add to it’s sourness, but will just have to try their natural flavour next time! ☺️🍦
new lifestyle concept store by music brand Swee Lee at the star vista - music x lifestyle x cafe. the social club cafe uses beans from Common Man Coffee Roasters - the flat whites were smooth, creamy and had a nutty finish ☕️😌
