𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱 ($35.80) 🦆🥔 Originating from Harajuku, Japan, Café Aux Bacchanales opened their first international outlet here on the sunny shores of Singapore, and I must confessed that I've walked past it several times while shopping in Plaza Singapura. 🫣😝
.
As a French-Japanese Cafe & Bistro, my first thought was... Another Hoshino Coffee-ish café? 🧐
.
TBH, I wasn't quite blown away by the food here, and for their higher price points, I was expecting the level of quality to be much higher than say... Hot Tomato 😅🍅.
.
𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗼☕🍮 ($6.50) - An Autumn Special, this was an okay-ish cuppa but didn't pack much of a punch. Super easy to drink though.
.
𝗦𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 🥩🍷($25.80) - We had to send this back the first round, because it was so well done that it was completely tough and rubbery. The manager mentioned that it's "normal" for the sides to be well done and wanted us to confirm if the middle was the same. At this point, I was a bit like... HUH. 🤦🏻♀️ Thankfully, the 2nd piece (albeit smaller) was much juicier, and the saving grace of this dish was definitely the crispy Steak Frites and Red Wine Sauce.
.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱 ($35.80) 🦆🥔 - Probably the best dish we tried, the inside of the Duck Confit was soft and juicy, although I wished that the skin could have been more crispy and slightly less salty on certain portions.
.
𝗖𝗿ê𝗽𝗲 𝗮𝘂 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗼 🍫 ($12.80) - Filled with dense cream which was pretty much tasteless, everything was overpowered by the strong flavours of Banana 🍌, even the chocolate sauce provided did nothing to balance out the flavours. Highly approve of the Chocolate Gelato served on the side though, it was smooth and chocolatey and was the highlight of this dessert.
.
Overall, I'd say this is a nice quiet place 🌿 to chill out and have a cuppa coffee ☕ or glass of wine 🍷 in the middle of Plaza Singapura, with its spacious interior in the heart of Orchard Road. Special shout-out to the friendly staff who are really good with babies!😁💫
