the bun had a thin buttery crust on the top which gave a nice fragrant crunch when bitten into. its salted egg filling was warm and oozy, enough to last through the whole soft bun!

4/5 :D

the new Kengee Bakery at Our Tampines Hub (I can’t find a location tag for this :(() was having a buy 3 get 1 free sale, and their bakes looked really good so I had to try it!

the chicken was juicy and tender - and at quite a large size too! I was expecting a smaller serving so this pleasantly surprised me. a mild spice also accompanied the whole bun.

4/5!!

for a slightly hefty price (given that the place is just a takeaway kiosk and not cafe), the generous portion made it justifiable. this thick square of goodness was extremely fudgey and moist - I loved its texture. however, the chocolate taste was not as rich as I’d hoped for :-(

this was miiiindblowingly good!!! I expected myself to prefer the burnt chili chicken as it was highly raved about on food king after all. but this plate of pork took my entire heart the whole dinner 😋 the combination of light crisp skin surrounding soft flavourful meat that had a good ratio of fats worked sooo well. I could finish a whole plate on my own HAHAHA just come and try it for yourselves!

after using burpple beyond it came up to $5.50/pax for 2 of us who ordered 2 bowls of rice, burnt chili chicken 2.0 and this plate of goodness. for the flavours and portion, that’s extremely worth it!

firstly I was really impressed by the huge portion! this angle may not have done the best job in portraying that but they piled up into a literal mini mountain 😄 the chicken cubes were tender and very flavourful, it paired really well with the rice. however, being a spice lover, I would have liked it more if they’d upped the spice level. despite that, I would definitely order this again because it’s definitely a plate of chicken done right.

managed to try their salmon mentaiko bowl today (it was sold out the previous time i came) and I was not disappointed!!!! super generous servings of salmon cubes that were thick, soft yet chewy with a substantial layer of creamy torched mentaiko mayo blanketing everything 😭😍 ordered a small bowl and it was just nice! I think if I’d gotten the bigger portion it would’ve gotten cloying. nevertheless I am soo happy I could use burpple beyond to get this at half price so it was only ~$9 aft discount hehe big steal

back to try their lamb don!!! inspired by korean flavours, the meat was marinated in a sweet and savoury korean sauce that reminded me of the ones used in bibimbaps. while also containing a mild spicy kick, the lamb was tenderly chewy and the addition of onsen egg completed the bowl.

super!! worth!!! it!! with!!! burpple!! beyond!!!! it was only $8 a bowl aft the discount and for this price tag, the bowl really exceeded expectations. the truffle fragrance was completely infused into every part of the bowl and they were sooo generous with the beef which was tender yet chewy and yummy 🤤

was initially worried that the Regular size would not be filling (looking at other reviews) but this portion was perfect for me, also because the beef to rice ratio was mad!!! like a 50-50 mad wowww

the restaurant’s decor is aesthetic with pink walls and cosy decor which makes the whole eating experience laidback and enjoyable :D

for my brunch, i chose a mix of smoked brisket, spam and sunny side egg on a cheddar bagel. the result was a deliciously hearty and wholesome meal! i almost couldn’t fit the whole bagel into my mouth but when i did everything came together so nicely. the contrasting soft texture of spam against the thick brisket went so well with the heartiness of the egg and cheddar. the cheddar bagel was fluffy and soaked up any broken yolk.

though it was slightly on the more expensive side (for a student like me 😿), i think switching your bagel with a friend to try different flavours would be a fun option!

the people there was also very friendly and made my visit more enjoyable and chill 😊

generous portions, good vibes and a multitude of choices for everyone - what’s there not to love 😋
i’d recommend going with a group of friends so everyone can get different flavours & combinations to share around and try!!! 🙌🏻

there wasn’t much lava oozing out when we cut apart the cake, which was not a big problem because it this small, unassuming dessert was intensely packed with matcha flavour. its dense, fudgey and moist texture carried a deep umami matcha fragrance that was not overpoweringly sweet at the same time.

on the other hand, the hokkaido milk ice cream was creamy and light, complementing the cake well.

usually $9.90 but i got it at $7.20 with a drink under their student promotion 😋 mixing the peppered rice, sweet soy sauce, corn and beef slices makes for a warm and comforting meal. the beef slices were chewy and the black pepper enhanced their grilled fragrance.
