Ended up settling down with the neighbouring Pork Kastsudon presented in the same manner like tendon, which boasts 6 pieces of sizable breaded pork drizzled with the same sauce used next door.
.
Also satisfying, but I still much prefer fried tempura to fried katsu. 🙁
.
New on their menu, comes an upgraded version of Kurobuta Slow-Roasted Char Siew [$20 for 150g] which boasts an even alluring smokiness to the tender juicy meat that captivated my heart. Limited portions available daily.
.
Now I am torn between choices.
But the one which I gave an exception was the Mooncake Softserve made from white lotus paste.
.
Imo lighter on the taste buds and felt less jerlat compared to a regular mooncake.
.
The other accompanying flavor was Durian Softserve which I can't help but shun, however @cassakating & @thechoyalicious gave their thumbs up.
.
A hearty bowl of Penang delights which impresses; thick luscious assam fish broth, chunky sardine fish and homemade chilli for the extra spicy kick.
.
Easily one of the better assam laksa around. But slightly under the radar unless you happen to be working in the vicinity.
.
Hailing from Hiroshima, another Japanese eatery has joined the busy food enclave at Orchid Hotel and serves up their rendition of Hiroshima Japanese curry rice.
.
The all toppings option came with a slab of pork tonkatsu, chicken karaage, shabu pork, minced meat, cheese and topped with an onsen egg.
.
Quite value for money given the portion, but I found the assortment of ingredients too fanciful that I got distracted from the curry, decent but didn't left a deep impression.
Hop over to the relatively new @dimsumhaus57jlnbesar for a wide selection of dim sum offerings at affordable prices.
.
Personal favourites include.
- Japanese Dumpling [$4.60].
- Crispy Mee Sua Kueh [$3.60].
- Baked Salted Egg Custard Bun [$4.80].
.
Consistent food quality, cleaner dining environment and no crazy queues like the other famed dim sum shop at Jalan Besar which I don't understand why.
.
With a wide assortment of spiced dish selections such as signature Curry Chicken, Sambal Chcken Drumstick, Rendang Beef and Laska Goreng etc.
.
Food portion are all suitable for sharing and there's always a dish out here which would tantalize the taste buds of any spicy food lovers. 🌶🌶🌶
.
Beef don with onsen egg in a hawker environment? A good attempt in replicating this Japanese hearty staple and making it easily available to masses, just like how easy and affordable a good beef don can be found in Japan.
.
The beef is done medium rare and could be stacked higher to be more visually appealing. Dressing could also be more flavorful to better complement the meat.
.
But at this price point, I am not really complaining.
.
After 3 months of waiting, the famed koffee from Omotesando Hills has finally opened its doors in SG.
.
It's signature iced cappuccino stood out with a layer of bubble cap topped with cocoa powder.
.
Still taste as good as back in the Japan days. Milky and smooth to palate, but still carries distinctive coffee notes.
I like how they used purple cabbage to make their coleslaw visually appealing.
.
Chicken chop was nicely grilled and retained it's tender juiciness. Though I usually prefer my meat to be slightly charred for the smoky aroma.
.
Cheap and good find in the neighborhood which even my picky mama gave her thumbs up.
.
Foie Gras Sushi [$15.80].
Moriawase Sashimi set [$28].
Unagi Avocado Maki [$14.80].
Uni Chawanmushi [$9.80].
.
Also appreciate them for operating till late to cater to my late night Japanese food cravings.
