Wagyu, chick liver, puffer fish, pitan tofu, chick balls We have been coming here since the place first opened over 20 years ago. We do because it serves the most varied and scrumptious yakitori dishes in Singapore and service is excellent. Prices are over 3 times more expensive than Tori-Q but what the heck, we onky live once.

Greens We have been coming here since its opening over 20 years ago. The offerings are very good, ample and original (eg. puffer fish, cartilage, heart, etc). At this recent visit, we noticed that service is much less proactive, and prices have skyrocketed to an exorbitant $75 per pax. Sigh.

Superb food, desserts and wine Came for a birthday dinner with a party of 7. The host pre-ordered dishes. All dishes were great and so were the wines. We had calamari, meatballs with sourdough and stuffed pita bread for starters. Exceptionally love their pizza; the pizza base were nicely cooked, fluffy with a slight chewy texture. Toppings were great too! Desserts were great too! Special mention was the pecan tart; nutty, fragrant and addictive! We had 3 wines and 1 unpasteurized sake. I’m a sake lover and the sake made my eyes sparkle! Lovely complex flavours and love the natural effervescent (probably due continual fermentation process), which the server accidentally had a sake shower when opening the first bottle (poor server probably had a shock himself, we all had a good laugh (not at him of course)). Definitely worth revisiting.

Pecan Tart The S$13.00 Pecan Tart had a drizzle of caramel bourbon sauce and a scoop of ice cream to go with it. Legend said that their previous version came with a whisky gelato, so one could get an unknown high after tasting a few mouthful of the dessert. I supposed changing it to vanilla gelato might just make this a little more friendly to the folks on the other side?

Fresh orange juice - Refreshing with the right balance of sourness and sweetness to cut through the grease 🍊 [7/10]

Truffle hashbrowns - Crispy but lacked truffle flavour. - Very greasy as they’re made with duck fat, making it hard to finish between 2 of us. [4/10]

Bacon, egg & cheese sandwich - Super flavourful and bacon was fried till perfectly crisp without any stretchy fatty parts, but a tad salty 🥓 - Chipotle ketchup gave a tangy sweetness though I’d prefer the spicier sriracha sauce to go with. [7/10]

Star of the night At bar bar q, they easily mastered the smokey taste of garlic fried rice and for $12.90, it's an easy yes. Polished this clean 👌

串串 Skewers Feast Brings me back to Xi'an and inner mongolia where the meat are heavily peppered with spices. This place is outdoors outside tower 4, and has an izakaya vibe where drinks, conversations just flow All skewers are delicious and borderline spicy 🔥

Crab parpadelle ($36) 🦀 5/5 This date night favourite may not have a distinctive name but Pasta Bar sure delivers. Their $30+ pastas pack so much flavour in their delicate portions that the 2 of us didn't regret splurging on 3 pastas during our exclusive night out here. This dish was the star of the night, and could be found on everyone's bar counter. The pasta looks strikingly jaundiced but don't be put off! Its colour probably has something to do with its deeply umami flavour. This was so unique we should have ordered 3 of these.

Tagiatelle ($34) 🍝 4/5 We thought we should get a pasta with a little meat so we ordered this tagiatelle full of tender, thick clumps of pulled beef. Definitely a delight for the senses but it couldn't beat the crab.

Ciriole carbonara ($34) 🥓 4/5 We were greedy for a third so we tried the ever-safe choice of carbonara. The ciriole sure was thick and chewy and definitely lent a unique house-made dimension to this dish. The carbonara was done the authentic dry style which was satisfying with the cheese at first but got a teeny bit clumpy in the end.

Summer Chicken Stew ($20.50++) It comes with a piece of sourdough. The stew may look unassuming but it is quite filling. The chicken thigh was tender and meat can be tore off easily. The potato skin was not peeled but it helps to keep the crunch. It may get abit salty after awhile. Would be good if there is a bowl of rice!

Seafood Somen ($21.50++) The somen tasted abit like mee kia. As the sauce is scallion oil, the dish was abit oily. The salmon was still tender and the scallops were fresh. Although the dish looks interesting, the taste was just normal. I would recommend to try other dishes.

Big in Japan. V2.0 My go to order here. I really love the mascarpone here and the poke with dill and the yuzu jam. Although I miss having the scones (previously it was a scones base) — the biscuits were a good base to complement the ingredients. I love the tater tots here too — not sure why I feel the ones here are better than other cafes — may be the honey. Coffee here is good too!

MaGal BBQ Spent around 200++ for 5 pax with two combo sets ordered plus some additional add ons. Meat was well marinated but favourite was still the skirt meat which is what they are known for! Good ambience and as usual will smell like BBQ after the meal.

Authentic KBBQ from Korean Chain The side dishes were perfectly seasoned, with the basic kimchi, spicy pickled radish and cucumber, fish cake slices etc (We had multiple refills!). The BBQ plate also comes with a ring of cheesy egg mixture. The meat was also well-seasoned, albeit quite expensive for its portion sized. The kimchi pancake is definitely worth a try for its flavourful batter and crispy exterior, as well as chunks of seafood. Overall a nice mid-range KBBQ restaurant to visit if you are in the area!
