This was a solid cup of matcha - nicely rich with a good balance of bitterness and deepness. They provide varied sugar options and occasionally do a surprise seahorse on your latte. I normally have my coffee unsweetened and chose “less sweet” which was perfect. Vegan milk options available too.

Also got a slice of banana bread ($3.80) which was clean tasting, nutty, and not too sweet. The staff is friendly and also nice enough make sure you have water to drink without you asking.

I love this place! This specialty coffee shop is a hidden find and a stone’s throw away from the crowded Jem with a clean and minimalist layout. It’s great for an affordable post-meal chill if you’re looking to escape the crazy JE crowds and want a quiet place to talk or read a book.

You’ll be seated within view of mrt tracks so do be prepared for some noise - but this wasn’t a bother for me.

This was a luscious cup of liquid chocolate with notes of fruitiness/acidity from the chocolate of the day. Would probably have been more intense if hot and undiluted (by the ice) but the iced version stayed lusciously thick for a good while as well. Was worth a wow! And was different from the typical cafe-esque iced chocolate made with a blend of cocoa powder/chocolate.

As you may see, I am a fan of the five spice meat paste here in the fried ngoh hiang/meatball items. Also the brinjal, which comes (rather oily but tasty) in a large slice with meat. There’s a huge variety of healthy/unhealthy here and I am often spoilt for choice.

Get the dry, which comes with sweet sauce and the must get chilli. If you’re feeling healthy, the soybean soup is sweet and does fine too.

“100% Angus beef patty dipped in a rich, mouth-watering rendang sauce made from a blend of coconut milk, ginger, kaffir lime, lemongrass, onion, garlic and spices” with a fried egg on top

I liked this! Am personally a fan of rendang, and this hit the sweet spot with a good (flavourful and not weird for a fast food outlet) rendang sauce with fried egg and very welcomed onions. Tastes less sinful than a fried-patty burger also - do give this a try!

Remember to ask for more sauce though - mine got dry towards the end.

TLDR; get better value for your buck and tummy elsewhere.

This was appalling small - about the size of a 50-cent coin! Yes, this is cheap at $1.50 but the quality was shocking and the rice mushed. The only things worth ordering here are still the salmon dishes.

TLDR; International Nasi Lemak (located in the outward facing row directly behind Mizzy’s) is better!

This was ordinary and not very flavourful. The fried chicken batter and begedil only had a faint taste flavour, coconut rice was weak, chilli was better but not spectacular. The long queue is deceptive!

As pictured, double hamburg steak with bonito flakes and truffled deviled eggs - each component fared well on its own, but did not seem to complement each other! The truffle in the eggs was lost with the strong hamburg sauce. Better to eat each separately. Good but go for the Mac and cheese instead!

So on point. Loved the thick cut fries which would’ve been great even on their own. I barely tasted any truffle - truffle shavings did not add any flavour but!!!! Those sprinkled bits of rosemary were a delicious surprise.

TLDR; this is great!!!

For $6 this came with a generous serving of seared mentaiko, yellow pickles, and some miso soup that managed to taste better than ordinary salt water-esque hawker miso soup. A substantial slice of salmon was served atop rice - both piping hot which made this so enjoyable to eat. Not restaurant standard but very delicious for $6!!! Will be back :-)

From a new corner store sitting behind the soy sauce chicken place.

This was some amazing beef rendang with strong flavours that came through - equivalent to or better than some higher-range restaurant outlets I’d say. So cheap too!! Also loved the generous dollop of fresh oniony sambal atop any order of grilled eggplant.

I am now a fan of oat milk as a dairy alternative! They use a special brand of oat milk here made just for coffee-making. It stays milky, and doesn’t overpower like soy. To top it off I think oat adds a new level of nuttiness (?) to the coffee!

Think oat milk will even better with a mocha too - will be back for more :-)

Liked the noodles which were well tossed and weren’t dry. Also liked the chunky (and seasoned) fried wantons and char siew that came with good char. There was a long queue but it moved fast.

Am already craving this early in the morning. Was indeed a worthwhile buy!
