Exactly as described, mozzarella cheese wrapped with pasta with tomato sauce. Tastes ok but halfway through, I got sick of eating it due to the lack of variety of ingredients/flavours in the pasta. The sandwiches other patrons ordered looked nicer and was served with salad too.
One thing's for sure, Ronin serves staggeringly good scrambled eggs. Voluminous and silkily creamy with the crunchy spark of sea salt, I am always in awe of their sensuousnous. My preference is to have the eggs with bacon and avocado 😋
Opened by local celebrities Michelle Chong, Cynthia Koh and Daniel Ong, Mischief serves American street food with an Asian twist. Expect food truck-esque fare such as their Sloppy Joes, Soft Taco, Philly Cheesesteak and their signature Chicken Waffle — the chef’s secret recipe chicken thigh sitting atop a crispy waffle. Start with their addictive Spicy Wings, go for their peel-off-the-bone St Louis Ribs, and end the meal on a sweet note with their Muchos Churros that comes with bittersweet chocolate and berry compote dips. An extensive selection of cocktails, wines, beers and spirits are also available for you to wind down.
A very hungry Burpple Tastemaker, Celest, puts it perfectly: ""This is chocolate – in cake form"". Don't bother resisting the urge, just buy a whole cake and we assure you it'll be love at first bite. You won't want to share it, but you'll have to, because it's just too darn good. It's a tough fight between the original and the dark chocolate; they're both excellent. Their take on a molten lava cake (Cuppa Lava Cake, $5) is a must-try as well, with warm oozing chocolate cake sitting atop cold vanilla ice cream in a cup — the perfect combination of hot and cold with extra oozy chocolate!
Recently opened among the cluster of eateries opposite Sembawang Shopping Centre is Baker's Brew Studio, a baking studio cum café concept. There is no partition between the baking kitchen and the seating area, so if you visit at the right time, you will get to observe the baking process and grab piping hot bakes fresh out of the oven! There is no fixed menu per se — the bakers let their creativity and inspiration dictate what rolls out daily. Past bakes include Earl Grey Lavender and Red Velvet cakes, Paddle Pop and Hazel Cheesepresso cheesecakes ($6.80), with many flavours yet to come. There's always something different to come back for!
Alfero is an oldie but goodie; you can tell by the way they store their gelato – in a pozzetto to ensure freshness. What's outstanding here is the raved about Pistachio gelato, intense in flavour with a good dose of pistachio nuts. The Bacio (hazelnut and chocolate) is a safe bet, but Durian and Gula Melaka are excellent choices if you feel like something more local. Rest assured that you're getting premium gelato as Alfero freshly churns the gelato using natural ingredients imported from Italy and other parts of Europe, resulting in a super smooth authentic gelato. If you are lactose intolerant, they have dairy-free fruit sorbets too!
You can always count on Creamier for good ice cream and waffles. If you love ice cream or waffles and haven't been here, you're doing it all wrong. The ice cream here is exceedingly creamy, smooth and dense, and the waffles are crispy, fluffy and eggy. Go for the Banana Chocolate Chip Crumble, Thai Milk Tea and Roasted Pistachio — almost every flavour is good, actually. However, Creamier is also known to be awfully packed all the time due to space constraints, so it'll do you good to visit during off-peak hours!
A healthier take on honeycomb soft serve, Beegurt serves up creamy froyo with raw honeycomb imported from New Zealand. It's slightly more balanced compared to honeycomb soft serves because of the tartness of the yoghurt, which goes exceedingly well with the honeycomb. At $6.80, the Beegurt Special comes with honeycomb and a choice of two toppings ranging from caramelised biscuits to granola and fresh fruit, and is finished with a drizzle of honey.
At $8 per cone, GODIVA’s chocolate soft serve is probably one of the most expensive soft serves out there, but if you're hankering for a really indulgent soft serve and have mad love for chocolate, then you're going to want to get your hands on it. It's super smooth, extra chocolaty, rich, creamy drizzled with more chocolate sauce – does it get any better than this?! Fun fact: get it at Changi Airport (Terminal 2 Departure Hall) for only $7.50 (thank you, GST absorption)!
