Saw that this cafe just opened (at 10am) so we abandoned the long queue over at The Replacement Lodge. It’s a different kind of cafe aesthetic, with a more laidback nature vibe, and serves healthy-ish brunch items. They had quite a few hummus dishes so we were torn over which to choose, but decided to go for this. Once we got over how green the dish was (ahh too much health) it was actually really good, loved the green hummus too.

Had to queue for this busy breakfast spot in JB despite reaching around 8plus. Since we were early, our plan was to queue and have our 1st breakfast here, then find a cafe nearby for our 2nd. We also ordered a chicken sandwich, which came with their famous fried chicken chop. Definitely will try their chicken chop if I come back.

This $18 promo for fish head (steamboat, curry, Assam) never seems to end, which works for us anyway! Their fish head steamboat has a more herbal taste (think danggui), and they give a good amount of fish and chunks of fried yam YAMMYYY

Got this from the other chicken rice stall, but I much prefer the version from the other stall (name has Tiong Bahru in it) which was way more flavorful, just that you’ll have to queue for that one.

The queue is cray but with a bit of patience it moves pretty fast.

I like mala stalls that sell by fixed portions and prices, instead of weight because at least you know how much it’ll be. This stall sells veg items (and I think pork) for $1 and the other meats for $2-3. Pretty good mala seasoning.

It was surprisingly empty on a sat noon, but I guess this place would be pretty crowded on weekdays given the amount of seats and waiters there were. Really liked the degree of how peppery the soup was, as some places can be way too spicy. But my favourite was the tofu lol it be great order the tofu!! (And bkt and meat of course)

Everything here was pretty darn good, and make sure you sit near the stall because you can top up that umami (from the salted veg) soup! Only issue was that the rice was sadly grainy, not shiok to eat even with the soup or sauce :/

A lesser known outlet located at the stretch of food places opp beauty world, where we got our dim sum to go (sorry for disposables ☹️). Great carrot cake and siewmai, and my friend raved about the cheecheongfun (which I don’t eat). I think I’ll rank 126 Dim Sim > Mongkok Dim Sum > Swee Choon.

Got the small portion (big is $5) but the amount of noodles was kinda cray, and was also impressed by how much chicken feet they gave. Noodles could have been more springy, but chicken feet was guuud.

All dons are going at $8 nett for their special promo now! This grilled salmon don comes with multi-grain rice (tastes like a combo of brown rice, barley, and red bean, which was pretty good with the teriyaki sauce), onsen egg, and grilled salmon, which was really worth for the price. The self-device ordering system was cute and pretty easy to use too.

This big ass portion of the three meats was only $18!! 🙂🙂 quality seemed to have became even better since the last time I tried this, especially the roast duck, which has a deep herbal sensibility you can hardly find in hawker stalls.
