Chicken Broth Ramen A bowl of simple yet flavorful chicken broth ramen. Tasted very homely and easy on the palate! Found myself finishing the soup easily and feeling very much satisfied. Charsiew was also well-done - very tender and had the right balance of fats to lean meat. Would definitely patronize Marutama again for no-frills amazing ramen!

Marutama Ramen Spicy ($12) This store used to be my favorite place for ramen. Unfortunately, I was utterly disappointed with the ramen that I had yesterday as it was very salty and oily! The noodles was also a bit tougher than usual. Don’t think I will be going back for their ramen again although the egg is really good!

Never Coming Back Horrible don - quantity + quality of sashimi was bad and they covered the rice with diced up crab meat to try and mask how little sashimi they were giving! Waited approx 30 mins for the don although we were the first ones in the restaurant during lunch. Ordered the signature maki roll and it was the smallest, plainest maki I have ever seen and cost $22! Really overpriced and can’t see the quality at all. Salad bar was pathetic with 5-6 choices of mundane choices. After Maru’s menu changes, their prices went up, quality and quantity went down and that’s the reason for their downfall. Will never visit again.

Lousy Unagi Don One of the worst experiences ever. I’d been previously a few times and the food was good. But now that they’ve renovated and changed management, it’s pretty terrible. Ordered the pork with fried rice don. When it came, it was just plain rice. Staff then told me that they’ve changed the menu but didn’t update me that the rice was no longer fried rice. Also ordered the Unagi bowl and the unagi was dry and rubbery. Worse than what you can get at a hawker center. Don’t go here ever. Food is also expensive as all the dons are 20+ and portions are tiny.

delightful experience (-: the garlic rice was super amazing!!!!! and the cheese on the salmon was so shiok 💯💯💯 highly recommend the pork bowl (~$20) as well, very tasty and juicy 😆 if you like beef, the truffle beef bowl (~$22) is worth a try too, extremely tender and delicious (‘:

Enzyme Drinks Got the pineapple and lychee. Perfect after having oily meals. Helps with digestion esp after heavy meals eg steamboat. Front lady very friendly and will recommend cutomers what to get. Highly recommended!

enzyme drink (~$5/pax) We first tried this at Suntec City and to be honest, it actually works for us HAHAHA so if you’re having problems pulling a number 2, this might help! The drink is a little gassy (which I don’t like), but I guess that could help with letting out the gas if you feel bloated. We ordered the apple and pineapple (fermentate; there are 2 different types) flavoured drinks this time round! I find that the pineapple drink tastes a little wonky, but he orders the same thing every single time and loves it! The lychee flavoured drink is good too. This is definitely a healthier alternative to bubble teas and even B**st, because of the many health benefits :)

Ala-carte Korean BBQ One of those times when you feel like eating korean bbq but do not feel like over-stuffing yourself with a buffet. So, we gave this korean bbq restaurant near telok ayer mrt a try since they are on #Burpple1for1 deal. Free flow side dishes and food wise, recommended to order the pork cheek/jowl (so good with just the right amount of fat), beef is not too good so you can skip it. Overall, everything is good but nothing is particularly mind-blowing. Food: 6.5/10 Ambience: 6/10 Total Damage: $25-30/pax - with Burpple Beyond

Korean Food #BurppleBeyond 1-1 Army Stew ($28) Kimchi Pancake ($17.90) Located at a super convenient location and every staff was friendly and helpful. Food was good especially the kimchi pancake, filled with flavours with the just the right combination of flour and other ingredients. Portions were quite big as we couldn’t finish all at the end. A hearty meal after a Long day of work was perfect at baek jung. Will definitely come back to try others, super worthy with Beyond!

Awesome skewers Ordered some skewers as the price is $1++ for most meats. The meats are well marinated. Worth ordering if you wanna have some sides to go along with your grilled fish.

turkey bacon and cheese ($4.90) & loaded tater tots ($5.50) sad to see that egg stop is no longer on burpple beyond. really enjoyed the taste and texture of the scrambled eggs but i honestly think that the turkey bacon was too overpowered by the egg so it kinda disappeared in each mouthful. perhaps other flavours on the menu would be better balanced! we really enjoyed the tater tots but yet pretty disappointed in the portion of as it was barely filled up to half a cup...

Beef Chilli ($5.90), Smoked Chicken ($5.50) If you’re a fan of scrambled eggs on toast, and also happen to love breakfast sandwiches, then this is probably the shop for you. Both sandwiches were very flavourful and deliciously messy, every bite I took had the sandwich fillings oozing and falling out from every corner. Get your tissues ready. There’s no seating area at the shop unfortunately, but we found some benches outside the mall to enjoy our sandwiches. We used the Beyond deal which cost us $8.90 for two sandwiches, and that made it very worth it.

Loved the food here! Heard alot about the Chinese food here at @myorestobar and had a chance to try a variety of their dishes 😍 I must say that overall, the food quality here is really good and definitely fit for family meals and gatherings! Here are my favourites: The Kia Hiang Claypot Spring Chicken ($26) is their speciality and I can see why. The chicken itself was incredibly tender and all drenched in a sweet savoury sauce that had a deep herbal flavour as well. The cabbage is cooked till really soft as well. Really comforting dish I don't mind having again. Garoupa Fillet in Claypot with Garlic and Ginger ($22/30/38) - this dish was kept very simple, yet incredibly well executed. The fish slices had a firm bite and were tender; they were lightly seasoned by the sauce which had simple garlic and ginger flavours. Once again another comforting dish. Crispy Yam Bag with Scallops ($5.50 each) - yes they may be expensive but once again this is one dish executed well. Really crispy exterior with soft creamy yam paste and snappy scallop, the contrast in texture was well appreciated. It can be quite pricey, but still, a solid place to bring your family for celebratory meals!

Young Coconut steamed with Peach Gum and Egg White Another must-order is the dessert, their Young Coconut steamed with Peach Gum and Egg White ($9.00). Served in its husk, the cold version was the perfect sweet finale as the coconut egg white pudding was surprisingly fragrant and moreish. The combination was not overly saccharine or heavy. You have to love the velvety texture of the steamed egg white too! The jelly-like Peach Gum was the icing on the cake and added a refreshing touch.

Grilled Miyazaki A5 Wagyu We had the Grilled Miyazaki A5 Wagyu ($45 per 100gm) too as part of the set which didn’t look like much at first (at the initial glance seemed dry and well-done) but was super tender and succulent. Thinly sliced, the protein wasn’t too lean and had a pleasant beefy flavour (great even without the sauce on the side).
