truffle roasted garlic chirashi (23.80++) omg this was so tasty 😙 the crunchy garlic slices and the sauce underneath made the whole bowl so creamy and delectable without feeling ‘gelak’. fish was also really fresh and cut into reasonably sized cubes and slices. staff were also really friendly!

Grilled Unagi Chirashi Paying for the quality & quantity of the food here. Very fresh and good for sharing for the huge amount of portion. Worth it for gatherings.

who spilled the jam?! The french toast was really different from the typical ones! The only downside is that I don’t think the bread was fried in eggs? At least that’s what I expect french toast to be. Otherwise, the jam was really good and they were generous when it came to the toppings. Be warned that the place can get really warm and humid!

Sweet Sunday Morning Saw the photos posted by others in Burpple. Told myself “must try”. When the food came, I was still surprised. Very very generous toppings. And the spilt jam... genius. Taste was good too.

Chicken Schnitzel ($18) and Seafood Macaroni & Cheese ($20) I think I have found my favourite place for Mac & Cheese! You know how there’s a delicate balance between a Mac & Cheese that is awesome and one that gets overwhelmingly cloying after every bite? The one here belongs in the former category. I would gladly slurp up the entire bowl by myself ◡̈ The Chicken Schnitzel here was pretty good as well. I like that it wasn’t too dry and that the portion it came in was huge! Would definitely come back again, probably on the weekends, to try the brunch menu here

Delicious food, great drinks and lovely ambience! One of my favourite bars with delicious and decently priced food!! A must try would be the Hatten Cheese ($8) this cheese fishcake dish is simple yet mindblowing - love the drinks here as well especially the umeshu ($8), very lovely ambience and perfect for date nights!

Mentaiko Udon With Kimchi It’s quite a find for this japanese izakaya place along the whole stretch of boat quay! Very chill ambiance with super goood izakaya variety and they have rather reasonable priced sake on promotions. One of my favorite was this mentaiko udon with kimchi, simple but very light and refreshing, could just easily slurp the whole bowl down. Other than that must try their battered squid too! It’s amazingly good!

the KFC Legend For $2.50 a chunk, it may seem overpriced. But the way they prepared it (24h marination) allowed the flavours to seep into all of the meat & skin. It simply slides off the bone. Called KFC (katanashi fried chicken), it may trump the original one. Also, A+ for service, value and views here

There’s sticky date pudding and there’s The Lokal’s Sticky Date Pudding ($10). Long regarded as my top favourite sticky date pudding in Singapore, it never fails every single time I have had it. The warm fuzzy sponge cake with the sweet toffee sauce and icy cold vanilla ice cream are the perfect partners in this impeccable after-meal dessert. Beef Burger 25++ One of the better beef burgers. It's really juicy and the inside was a perfect medium rare. Slightly heavy handed on the mustard, and could do w a bit more flavour. Nonetheless pretty good, no regrets ordering this. Friend said wolf burger has a cheaper and better wagyu burger tho

Ricotta Jam Toast 8.5++ Ricotta and the multigrain bread were fine, the jam had a nice tartness and it's nice, as well as quite rare to see manuka honey used. You can taste it immediately

After head bartender Luke and his team left last year, I was scared to return — to face the unfamiliar new incarnation of one of my best friends in alcoholism. I'm glad I had the courage to reconnect. - This cocktail 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲, 𝗡𝗼 𝗘𝗴𝗴 ($25) consisted of cheddar, cream, honey and star anise smoke, and boy did it hit the spot hard. It had a whole gamut of flavours — sweet, smokey and savoury, with a heavy-hitting spirit base that hid a tinge of spice. Its flavours were eloquently announced on the palate through a mouthfeel that I'd liken to a lightly-creamy soup with hints of starchiness. - Underneath the changes, they still held that familiarly spunky and adventurous spirit. Sunchoke While still uncommon, it's been in vogue for a while now to use vegetables in ice cream. The flavour on this one's subtle, with the nutty sweetness of the root vegetable barely registering. What it is though, is well-executed ice cream, spiked with fermented strawberry gel and sandwiched between Salted & Hung's signature honeycomb burnt butter tuille and a dark chocolate cracker. - Taste: 3.5/5

El Toro Orchard Inspired by childhood memories of his family's farm back home in Australia, this dessert from chef Drew sees lacto-fermented apple brunois and crumble garnishing a sharply refreshing ginger & apple sorbet, which in turn sat atop a beautifully pearly white sphere of ginger semifreddo. I loved the palate cleansing combination of fresh fruit and iced confectionery, but found the semifreddo a little powdery and dry. - Taste: 3/5

Beef Cheek Probably the most straightforward of courses during our lunch so far, but no less delicious for it. Stupendously good Wagyu beef cheek that literally melts in your mouth, its meaty unctuousness lavished in savoury jus. Alongside it, a disc of creamy salt baked potato blanketed in vinegar cream and a dollop of caviar. There was also a refined yet punchy garlic puree to accompany the beef. A more luxurious steak and potatoes I have not had in recent memory. - Taste: 4.5/5

Like a mini night market right here! ❤️ They also do a very pretty kueh lapis in many innovative flavors like pandan gula melaka, milo dinosaur, rum & raisin (all sold out). This bandung one was actually pretty tasty even though i’m not a fan of bandung. The food was tasty though a bit small and I can’t wait to come back to try more (the sweet sambal even had a whole onion strip)! Hakka Yong Tau Foo The difference in Hakka style YTF is the use of meat instead of fish paste stuffed in beancurd or vegetables. The meat is nice, tender and well seasoned. They have a min order of 6 pieces and I prefer the dry version where it is served with chilli and sweet sauce.

First intention was having prawn mee, but after seeing many people queue at this stall, after my prawn mee (yes, I able to eat the second bowl 🤣). I joined the queue at Hup Chong Hakka Yong Dou Foo. Normally I will go with soup, but limited space in my tummy, I chose dry, which is very good decision. I really enjoyed the dry version, the sauce sweet and a little bit spicy, the YTF is fresh  and my favourite is the meatball 😆. Claypot Hokkien Mee $16.5 What this Hokkien Mee lacks in wok hei, it more than made up for in terms of portion size and ingredients. Meant for 3, our order could easily feed 4 of us. Besides the unique distinction of being cooked in a claypot, the Hokkien Mee here is also brimming with sotong and lala clams. And in-lieu of pork lard - gloriously crispy chunks of salty pork belly crowning the noodles. Speaking of the noodles, these are of the wetter variety, which was a plus point because the broth was flavourful, imbuing the combination of yellow noodles and beehoon with umami. Some might bemoan the absence of smokiness, but I didn't miss it here. The accompanying sambal and limes enhanced the enjoyment further, with bursts of spice and zestiness to break up the monotony of the soft noodles.

Wok hei hokkien mee $4 This Hokkien mee was so much better than when I had it a few years ago! Got wok hei, flavourful stock. Haven’t tried it since then cos I eat at the other Hokkien mee stall anyway. But now that it tastes so good, I know where to go when I want a different style! Average Hokkien Mee The portion is small (I say this as a small eater) so definitely don’t get the $4 one 😅 it was ok but it felt like the stock they use just wasn’t tasty enough to produce a solid Hokkien mee? it was well fried tho, not too dry/wet and noodles were not soggy. Note that it doesn’t come with pork lard - kind of a deal breaker for me. I was lucky and got my order really quick but I heard that the wait could be long sometimes.

Spicy Asian Crab Penne SGD 16.90 - Finally get to try Rouse and it's their second last day of operation. Hope they'll resume operation soon 😐 This dish was rather spicy and it has a very strong dried shrimp taste. Not my type of dish .

Salmon Stack Salmon stack: smoked salmon sandwich with cream cheese on toast, though I think they could use a bagel instead of normal toast maybe it'll taste better | tandoori chicken spaghetti(?): my friend didn't really like it, saying that the spaghetti dance taste weird, and that the tandoori chicken didn't have the tandoori taste at all. | quinoa...: sorry i keep forgetting the names but the last one is a quinoa salad, the main is kinda large of a portion looking like a chunk of meatball, maybe should shrink the size of the ball but have more of it
