Front: fish & chick set @ $8.90
Back: full house set @ $10.90
It was not bad, quite average and nothing that shouts out in particular. So the price point feels a bit steep for the quality.
Between the two sets we got, the only difference is the full house has an extra prawn. So a prawn for $2? Quite a big difference in our opinion.
There are five types of curry to choose from: Singapore Hainan, Japanese, Thai yellow curry, Malaysia Spicy Tumeric and Indonesia rendang. We wanted Singapore and Japanese, but they didnt have Japanese anymore. And it was only 12.45pm, or maybe they didn't prepare that at all?
It's a fancy coffee shop, a bit too fancy for our liking. Feels strange that the drinks stall is tucked away in a corner unlike traditional coffee shops. And no caifan stall, which is like a staple in most coffee shops cuz they are meant to be economical right? Also don't understand why need so much lights when it's daytime. A bit waste electricity eh?
Fried rice with Chinese sausage @ $6
Chanced upon this place and it somehow looks inviting so we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint.
Really good standard for the fried rice.
Better still if you add on the chilli that you can help yourself with on the table. There's also some small veggie inside which gives a different texture to the entire dish.
All in all, a great experience, especially given the price point being very reasonable and affordable!
Secret recipe dry noodles with pork @ $6.50
Chanced upon this place and it somehow looks inviting so we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint.
The noodles was cooked just nice, not overly done. The pork chop was also tasty and tender not chewy at all. The sauce is the best, giving the whole dish a great umami taste.
It came with that small bit of chilli as shown in the photo but they have the chilli on the table that you can help yourself. The chilli is really great and it does have a bit of spiciness to it (not just salty like some other places).
All in all, a really good experience, especially given the price point is really affordable and reasonable too!
Cauliflowers (can't remember the price)
Not bad but have had better.
A bit expensive for such basic food.
Nigerian fiery peppered pork stew @ $33++
Delicious and the spiciness has got kick! Good that it comes with rice and also an appetiser with mango so they help to balance out the spiciness.
Feels a bit expensive though as it also feels like malay food.
Can't remember the dish but it's the chef's special
Very delicious chicken and it's cooked so tender that it's fall off the bone kind. The flavour is great, can't go wrong with peanut sauce (which means it's almost like satay sauce). Feels a bit overpriced though as it feels quite similar to malay food.
Swahili fish curry @ $32++
Been wanting to try at this place for so long and finally got to it! The curry is nice, not too spicy and comes with rice and some appetisers. But not sure if it's overpriced and it's themed as African food but kind of feels like malay food?
True Breakfast's signature @ $12.80+
It's a toast that comes with pork chop, floss cheese and peanut sauce. It's quite nice but nothing that shouts out. Can have more peanut sauce.
A tad expensive.
Can't recall the name but it's described as soft serve on a fried dough. It's extremely delicious and the ice cream has a hint of rose which is super refreshing.
Prata platter
We saw a photo with murtabak and prata and thought that was the platter but it turned out to be this. As we ordered this with the RK special, we really weren't sure which is which when they put both plates in front of us. Essentially they are kind of the same thing - shredded prata, two eggs and mutton. But this one comes with additional chicken bites as well. Overall not bad but unsure if will order again.
RK special
Recommended by a friend and wasnt sure what it was even when they put the plate down in front of us. Apparently it's shredded prata with two eggs and muttons. It's quite good actually.
3 dishes @ $8.90
This is my go-to nasi padang food and it never disappoints. Seems to be getting a tad more expensive each visit.
