Charashi don A hidden gem

Bara Chirashi Don Haven't been here for a long while and one thing for sure is that they have taken their presentation up a notch. The Bara Chirashi Don was served in a ceramic white soup plate instead of a bowl. It was gorgeous to behold as it's plated beautifully and vibrantly coloured from the assortment of diced sashimi and topped with ikura and edible flowers. Interestingly it had blocks of steamed egg instead of tamago.

Don (Lunch) (~save $20) Looking for a fusion take on the traditional Japanese Izakaya? IPPAI should be your next go-to joint! Their menu features a wide variety of dishes ranging from dons and sashimi, to grilled meats and seafood. If you’re on a lunch break, you should most definitely opt for their Chirashi Don.

Matcha White Chocolate Mochi Muffin ($4.50) The texture of the mochi muffin is quite interesting - very chewy but dense, like a cross between chewy bread and mochi. The matcha and white chocolate flavours are just average. Quite overpriced for the small size and average taste, wouldn’t buy again but it was okay just to try once, to experience a different texture and mouthfeel (don’t expect to be mind blown or anything). We visited on a Sunday and it was fairly quiet. I like the concept of the cafe, it was very spacious and cozy. Perfect for chilling or doing some work over coffee.

coffee 141 kohito $7 dark mocha $7 (i think the online menu states $7.50 for both drinks, probably not updated) i think these drinks were okayyyy nthg to shout about. kohito was an interesting mix of ice black + milk + mint, which takes a few mouths to get used to the taste. defo not for everyone but interesting combination nonetheless. dark mocha’s cocoa taste kinda overpowered the coffee taste have to take escalator up and it’s located in the middle (on the left after coming up)

Hot flat white and iced matcha latte. 1for1 Coffee tasted pretty normal and matcha latte felt too diluted. Pales in comparison with Hvala. Luckily it is 1for1.

Orange Ciabatta Bread Of course if you are having meal at this coffee shop, then you must not miss out trying their popular orange ciabatta bread. A very unique combination, while the bread is soft and taste well with the orange peels.

Mee Siam Set with Coffee This coffee shop used to have a few outlets, before they left with only one now in Far East Plaza. The shop is located all the way at the back row of shops here, which there wasn’t many people when I came on weekday early morning. But you would find many regular customers dropping by to grab their cup of coffee. I needed some proper breakfast meal, so gotten this in set with a choice of coffee or tea. The usual mee siam tastes that you would anticipate. The coffee has a very nice aromatic taste.

What will be the most iconic Singaporean breakfast? For me, it has to be toast, soft boiled eggs and a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Lunch [Orchard, Singapore 🇸🇬] Bibim Nanymyun (S$17.50++) Korean cold noodles, served with sliced beef, pickled radish, and spicy sauce. The disappointment was the radish kimchi which tasted quite bitter. Help yourself to the water and yuzu drink at the counter. Matcha K-Cup Dessert ($8.90) under their recent korea market I felt that their matcha cream was quite meh and weird taste tbh. The sponge cake in between the cream and red bean was quite moist and not that dry tbh. The red bean was quite chewy and not that hard, slightly a bit sweet. But it got similar structure having dessert inside cup with having cake inside cans for okashi gaku sold in vending machine last 2 years ago.

market blue rose tteokbokki - was one of the more affordable and filling options here. loved the chewy tteokbokki in the spicy sauce (with a tinge of rose flavour)

Great place which has left burrple :( Love the vibes the place. Was informed today (22 dec) that they are no longer on Burpple but the app has not been updated.

Second visit and will be back again! Nice place to chill! Love that the coffee tastes very balanced. My only gripe is that their servings are small.

Bad price and cold brew coffee always not available Always run out of coffee cold brew, only managed to try after 4th visit. Cold brew tea was $6, portion so small totally not worth it. Finished it in 2-3 mouths as the iced was a lot also. Black cold brew is bland and bad too. Never even satisfy my coffee cravings at all. Never coming back again. Please avoid if you have better places to go. There are better coffee places in Chinatown.

AFFORDABLE BANH MI AT JOO CHIAT 💯 Muslim-friendly Banhmi at Joo Chiat✨ Affordable brekkie spot among the cafes 😂 Lasting longer than some cafes along the famous Joo Chiat Street - Their banhmi hits the spot with toasted baguette with their own marinated options of chicken pate or beef patty as well as pickled salad 💯 paired it with their grilled otah which is a homage to what the place used to sell 😊 … can’t go wrong with banhmi, coffee and roadside seating ✌️

Earthquake banh mi 9.5nett The name presumably comes from how impactful it's supposed to be given it has 3 meats: ham, beef, ckn But in all honestly the baguette itself was average and the meats were fine but not spectacular. The ham carried hints of spice but this was otherwise pretty forgettable

Viet drip coffee iced 4.5nett Very meh, nowhere near as good as normal Viet coffeed in terms of taste profile or intensity, and the price is thus ridiculous for something of this quality

Zeppin Burger 🍔 Zeppin Burger 📍Bizen Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse (@bizensteakhouse) 📌 Plaza Singapura 💰 $24.50 Was pretty surprised at the dine-in flow of Bizen as I had to order at the counter and make payment first before even being seated. Ngl I kinda prefer it that way, stops dine and dash incidents too. The best part was that the price reflected on the menu was the nett price, so I didn’t have to do the math 😀 The patty within the burger was tender and beefy, while the egg and bacon added that extra oomph to the dish. Generally a pretty solid burger though it wasn’t anything outstanding, fries were really crispy though! ⭐ Rating: 8.2/10 🤑 worth the price: alright 🦖 would I buy again: maybe 💍 would I marry: maybe

Tamari Glaze Chicken $11.90 nett Juicy chicken thigh with crisp skin but a little salty. The wakame udon was simple but satisfying. It resembled thick ramen more than udon. Broccoli side was normal. Order & pay thru the QR code so you can walk off right after eating

Well breaded and fried without being too oily Good value, this restaurant is a sister brand of astons. Plenty of seats on a sunday afternoon, with nice natural light. Meat patty (not pictured) was huge without batter being too thick

Hot White (3oz) | $4.50 Rwanda Nova beans with hints of redcurrants, black plums, and roselle. Very smooth texture and delightful flavour to the coffee. Rate:🌟🌟🌟🌟

Tonkatsu Sanga | $18 Thick, fried pork belly embraced in two toasty, crusty buns. All was good, but what sealed the deal was the combination of daikon and zucchini pickles and rosemary plum sauce, which gave a very pleasant, appetising punch to the sandwich. It’s a huge portion for one, and I’d highly recommend sharing - especially when you can get their bakes on the shelf (the chocolate ganache cake was way too good). Rate:🌟🌟🌟🌟

Black pepper steak Having aston black pepper steak - medium well , side of baked potato and garden veggie. Also ordered salmon spaghetti , mushroom soup and potato salad. Steak is flavourful, juicy and chewy😋😋🤩 .
