This is a office lunch/ family-friendly place with reasonable prices that hopes you visit often - so donāt judge or rate it against finer establishments. The Tendon ($15) included 3 tempura prawns, tempura-battered egg and veggies. Decent nosh for the price!
This āValrhona brownieā on the menu turned out to be more like a dense ganache! Ultra rich, ultra āgaoā, ultra chocolatey. Deep and dark. It is not a brownie- there is no sponge. No matter what it should be called - this is heavenly if you are a *chronic* chocoholic. If you like light Japanese-type desserts, light mousses and fluffy cakes, stay away. Enjoy this with a scoop of ice cream at this lovely cafe/ restaurant that has something for everyone.
Paradise, indeed. The very shiok and spicy hae-bee infused chilli for this dish (as named!) is a cool feature that drives its appeal to the young crowd; in fact this menu item is an Aunty killer, and Uncle charmer too. Thereās something in the wide menu for the entire family in this nautical-themed international cafe that makes King Albert Park worth hanging out at.
We just celebrated a birthday, and their chefs and service captain today were superb! Every dish was well done- the black pepper venison was delicious, the. duck meaty (not common in Singapore restaurants) and tender, the prawns succulent and the mee sua, hor fun carb plates were excellently done with wok hei. Even the humble spinach and beancurd dishes shone. Kudos to the patient service captain who made this birthday dinner special, though there were so many other guests seeking her attention. Will be back.
This ba chor mee is as shiok/ good as ever, without or with the Michelin recognition. Why arenāt there (legit) branches? The taste of the noodles here is distinctive - there is magic in the sauce, cooking (timing) and every ingredient is done right, down to the splash of vinegar. We had both small $6 and large $10 bowls to compare, not cheap but still more affordable than ramen and pasta prices on our shores. Letās support our hawkers- we are so fortunate to have them around, making delicious hot food accessible to us over long hours.
This tagliatelle with bacon and asparagus ($24 on the menu) is for those who enjoy rich cream sauces. We do :) The Entertainer app (2019 package) expires soon - use yours before year end. Al Forno Tapas and Wine Bar is at 693 East Coast Road (Siglap) - NOT the main outlet at 400 East Coast Road - is a new inclusion with a 1 for 1 promotion.
The signature main courses were much more delicious than they sounded on the menu! Thumbs up to the ovenbaked chicken thigh which came with a baked sweet potato ($16 on menu); Thai-style beef linguine - a concoction that worked ($16); and even the chicken cutlet cream pasta ($8 for kids, with juice). This place is under the radar, despite offering tasty food, generous portions, and seats next to the Jewel waterfall! Entertainer app subscribers enjoy a 1 for 1 deal on the mains, pasta and pizza. Thereās something on the menu for everyone! We will be back.
We went with an open mind to try Mikawa - the restaurant was literally empty for lunch yesterday (Sat). Upon hearing mention of Burpple and the āChirashi donā (āsave ~$17ā stated on the Burpple app) the service crew denied this and pointed to their āother outletā, and stated that Burpple was wrong! They said many others had asked too?! Their Chirashi don eligible for the Burpple offer would cost $38++. No matter, we had the $16++ ramen from the a la carte menu ā- as we were told that NO lunch set menus at all were applicable for the Burpple privilege ā- but even these pricey $16 a la carte noodles came soft (overcooked) for all of us and the soup was lacklustre. We could only comfort ourselves with the discount, but that could not make up for everything...
