Known also as The Wanderers Cafe, this hidden rooftop wanderlust esque cafe is located in Bangi and my oh my do they really serve up a superb portion on food that really makes you crave for more. I had the Portobello Beef Burger ( Rm17) and it comes with a large side of cajun fries. This burger is seasoned well and its oozingly juicy with each bite and of course not forgetting the slices of portobello mushrooms and pickles that accompanies each bite with crispy onions and of course that melted cheese that binds it all together. What more can you want?If burger aint your thing do try out their famous Denali Peruvian Chicken which offers two sides you can choose to have with( tried the oh so good mash potato and shell pasta salad) and its smoothered with their jalapeno mayo sauce which is to die for. ( not exagerating here.). They also specialize in mocktails but if you want something hot they do have a selection of coffee choices by using beans from The Roast Things. Opening hours are 5pm till 2am so if ure craving for a good meal even after midnight you know where to get your fix. :)
Bringing you back to my childhood memories. Abit of a heartfelt review here. My grandmother would use to make this during special occasions and i would gobble them down cause i absolutely love it. Now that she is not around anymore i still yearn for this particular dish and finding one that would remind me of how she would use to cook them was hard until i stumbled upon Hakka Passion. Just the right amount of chewiness and softness of the yam and sweet potato abascus that is sauted with mince pork and a hint of sesame oil, this is an absolute heartwarming experience. They do specialize in all amazing things Hakka with their other dishes so for a taste to remember of lost childhood memories do give this place a try.
I mean come on. Look at that. Though the hype might be just next door at 88 but Jonker 86 QQ Ice delivers some seriously good cendol ive tried in Melaka. The ice shavings peaking high, drenched in the most delicious thick coating of gula melaka and rich santan with flavors to choose other than the traditional such as banana, nangka and the must try durian cendol. No joke i went three rounds on this in a day before and it constantly delivers the best "OH MY GOD THIS IS SO GOOD!!" moments during those long walks on the hot streets of Jonker. Try out their curry noodles and prawn mee too while you're at it.
I always have a soft spot for hummus being one of my favorite comfort food but this HUMMUS from Jibby & Co is definitely king of all hummus. Grazed with spiced minced lamb, drizzled with garlic oil and topped with crispy fried garlic slices and the esquisite touch of pine nuts which goes well together with the Turkish bread. Great for sharing but if youre really hungry or just mad for hummus, just have this all for yourself :)
This hidden gem is not so hidden with their flavors and variety of food that they deliver. Open as early as 7am to 12am, Day to Day located at Taman Kinrara is like your mamak, chinese hawker food, banana leaf, and western all in one. Their choices of Apom is a must try which they serve with a side of sweet coconut milk. Other dishes to look out for is their Nasi Lemak Goreng, Rawa Thosai, oh their spicy Tomyam and the list goes on and on. Cheap and the service is amazing. Dont miss this out on your next mamak lookout.
My kindergarten to highschool to the 'now' days, when i crave for yong tau foo this is the place i come to. Variety of fried to savoury fish paste filled choices to choose from and they also do simple chinese rice dishes. The fried sui kaw here still taste as good as i remembered ( minimum order of 5)
Try their fried pork innard porridge and their curry noodles here if you are not up for yong tau foo.
Anyone at Malacca at this moment?
I cannot stress how much i always and must visit this quiet little nook at Jonker Street everytime i am in Malacca and only for the reason of this Kuih Batik. It reminds me so much of how i love eating Milo powder with a hint of water in it as a child and now this in a form of a solid form? Oh my and with bits and pieces of Marie biscuits and drizzled with more chocolate sauce. This is just warm, chewy and definitely one way you can satisfy your chocolate cravings.
Calanthe Art Cafe also serves up variety of coffee ranging from different roasting methods and beans from all 13 states of Malaysia. Talk about bringing back the good old days of kopitiam but in a modern way.
This is a bowl of rice aka donburi worthy to be debate over. Price wise, yes it is on the heavier side ( Rm90) per bowl but what you get is a fufilling satisfactory crave pleaser. What to expect from this bowl of gold is that you get premium quality wagyu that is seared and sliced well alongside their special silky egg. To top it off, teriyaki mayo that is blowtorched and marinated konbu to add to the texture and flavor of this dish completes it all.
Give it a try. Splurge a little once in a while. You only live once afterall :)
Halal chicken charsiew yet still being able to capture the taste of the authentic pork char siew, this twist of your well known and loved aglio olio pasta gets a game changing flavor by combining that sweet and savoury flavors of roasted char siew that we all reminisce with the delicious mix of sautèd garlic and olive oil. Simple yet something you do not want to miss out during your next visit to Yellow Brick Road.
Clueless as in where to find a satisfying comfort plate of creamy carbonara late night? Look no further for this heavenly looking meal cost you no more than Rm20 and plus you can get your fix till 1am. Luscious. Silky. Creamy and cooked to simplicity perfection, this beef carbonara from Oregi at Ss15 does the job to satisfy your late night cravings yet still makes you crave for more.
If i could choose one type of pasta to live with its got to be GNOCCHI. The fluffy pillows you pop into your mouth is so satisfying. Here at The Red Bean Bag, they offer a pumpkin gnocchi which sweetness binds so well with the rich tomato sauce. Scattered together with those pillows are the juicy portobello mushrooms and spinach and topped with a generous amount of parmesan to finish.
Finally a fix of cornbeef for breakfast. This equisite mix gives you a combination of tangy and savoury explosion which includes cornbeef hashbrowns, pickled onions, roasted cauliflower, mushroom mousse and sweet chilli labneh. Oh and of course the eggs, choose either sunny side up or poach for your liking. Im not a breakfast kinda person but this makes me wanna get up and get one for my mornings.
