Chinese, Good For Groups, Dim Sum

For a Winning Dim Sum Breakfast This Chinese restaurant goes down in history for being one of KL’s most well-known dim sum places that dates back over 60 years. Today, you can find them tucked inside Sunway Giza Mall serving dim sum and other well-loved Chinese dishes. Fill the table with baskets of “Loy Kee” Abalone Siew Mai (RM9.80), Xiao Long Bao (RM8) and Steamed Prawn Dumpling With Chives (RM7). Also good is the Fried Radish Cake (RM6), that’s crispy around the edges and soft yet meaty in the centre. The bigger plates are not to be missed either, like the Cantonese Style Fried Noodles (from RM15) with eggy gravy, fresh prawns and pork slices.

Fried Radish Cake (RM6) A wrong order that turned out very right. Fried to perfection with crispy edges while still soft and meaty in the middle. So good when paired with the sweet chilli sauce.

Steamed Siew Mai (RM6.50) Super plump siew mai with fresh prawns – I’m greedy and had all three for myself.

Pork Noodles This place used to be good when their prices were reasonable. Good business means they keep increasing prices every 6mths. From GST to SST to current prices had been increased gradually 🤦🏻‍♂️. Almost 20% increased in less than 2yr

Pork Noodles (RM8) I’m obsessed with this place! Super value-for-money meals in ridiculously large options! I think I’ve found my fave combo here: silver needle noodles, extra lettuce, in soup.

For Mighty Bowls of Pork Noodles A bowl of pork noodles for only RM8? It’s no wonder there’s always a queue at this little shop. Ten Noodle serves only pork noodles only and you even get to customise your bowl! Choose the type of noodles you want (hor fun, vermicelli, yellow mee and more), the portion size, soup or dry, with or without innards and if you’d like add-ons – go for the Crispy Bean Curd (RM6) for extra crunch. The star here is the killer broth that’s sweet, salty and porky all at once. Plus, it’s loaded with generous amounts of minced pork, slices and meatballs. For Hakka Delicacies Tuck into homely traditional Hakka dishes at this popular spot. House specialities like the aromatic Yam Abacus (from RM14.90), yam balls stir-fried with tofu, onion and leeks, and the Hakka Stuffed Beancurd Ball (RM14.90) both warrant double orders. Lei Cha fans will be glad to know that Hakka Rang doles out a delicious version with a flavourful soup – the RM11.90 portion is sufficient for two! Pro tip: Reservations are highly recommended for dinner, or come slightly later for a fuss-free meal. Photo by Burppler Ali K

Leicha (RM11.90) Can’t come here and not order this dish. While I’m not the biggest fan of leicha, I really enjoyed this one. Lots of fresh and raw veggies and that soup, super rich and flavourful. Ps. This feeds two!

Claypot Fish Curry (RM29.90) Don’t remember the exact name of the dish but damn it was good. Spicy and creamy curry resembling a Nyonya curry, filled with fish slices and veggies. We really enjoyed this one!

Achar Chicken Sandwich It's a big surprise. Didn't expect how this turned out to be so goood and refreshing. It's very appetising, mainly contributed by the achar sauce and the juicy pineapple. Yumzz!

Cheezy Meltdown (RM19) A dirty and messy sandwich that’s an apt hangover meal. I hate to say this, but the cheese sauce truly reminded me of KFC’s. It’s stuffed with sautéed mushrooms and hash brown which tasted even more like KFC’s cheesy wedges. I love the bread! Slightly toasted yet fluffy at the same time. Pls share this dish with someone.

For Fluffy Dutch Baby Pancakes and Freshly Baked Cakes Turn to this cosy cafe in Plaza Damas for hearty food and freshly baked cakes on slow Sunday mornings. Try the famed Dutch Baby Pancakes (RM19) topped with a gorgeous sunny side up, smoked salmon and avocado. Burppler Joey Tee waxes lyrical of its spot-on flavours and the pancake with crispy edges. For a meatier option, get the savoury Australian Roast Rib Eye Sandwich (RM25) loaded with tender, flavourful rib eye slices. You must leave tummy space for their cakes, especially the super moist and buttery No.1 French Butter Cake (RM8). Photo by Burppler Joey Tee

For Guilt-Free Red Velvet Nestled in Plaza Damas, this humble cafe known for its hearty hot food also doles out delicious AND healthy cakes worth a visit. Set eyes on the gluten and sugar-free Red Velvet Cake (RM19) — two layers of fluffy cake made with gluten-free ground almond, buckwheat, quinoa and maize, finished off with rich 70 percent dark Belgian chocolate ganache. Another equally delicious option is the intensely chocolatey Flourless Dark Brownie (RM9). Photo by Burppler Alison K

Chicken Avo Toastie Chicken Avo Grilled Cheese w/ Wasabi Mayo (RM18). Pretty filling sandwich with generous chicken and avocado. Wasabi mayo is a tad bit spicy so op for less or on the side if you can’t take much. One down side is that the chicken is quite dry.

Chicken Avocado with Wasabi Mayo (RM15) Warning! Each bite you take of this sandwich will send a tingling sensation up your nose – that’s from the punchy wasabi mayo. Love the tender juicy with the creamy mayo but I could have done with less of the mayonnaise!

Charcoal Sandwich X Layered Egg X Luncheon Meat Coincident visit to this breakfast shop turns out to be a good one. Workers are very friendly. Environment also good. Imma in love with their sandwiches! However, if they can put lesser mayo, I’ll be more happier 🤣

Milk Chocolate x Sea Salt (RM12.90) Can’t help but be reminded of Aqua S when at Urban Artisan, but hey, if it’s yummy, I’m all for it. The signature Sea Salt’s blue tinge bothers me a little, but the good flavour is enough to make me forget all about any possible use of artificial colouring. The subtly salty note blends really well with that mildly sweet milk chocolate swirl!

Rum & Raisins and Avocado & Choc Chip (RM14) You’ll find super creamy ice creams here with more than 200 flavours to expect! They’re quite popular for the alcoholic flavours and the Rum & Raisins is a sweet one that packs a hard rum punch. Avo fans shouldn’t miss out on this flavour – there are small chunks of the fruit in the thick and smooth ice cream.
