Imaginative Menu Hands down for the creativity of the menu. I ordered a lovely cocktail with pipa gao, longan and hawthorn. The house wings dipped in red beancurd batter was deep fried to perfection.

Adventurous menu How adventurous are you? I started my adventure with a bak kut teh cocktail (warm) which is served with with a dough fritters! Followed by a buah keluak beef stew. Hopscotch indeed has a very creative menu!

Premium Kolo Mee Set Spotted this hidden stall in the main corridor of Icon Village and we decided to give it a shot since there was a Burpple Beyond promotion here. The staff recommended getting the premium kolo mee set, which was the signature item on their menu. The set came with a bowl of kolo mee, topped with char siew, minced pork and veggies. It was served together with a bowl of wanton soup containing prawns and abalone slices. The noodles were really springy, which is what we often look out for in a bowl of kolo mee. However, we thought that there was too little gravy and as a result, the noodles were a little tasteless and dry. This also resulted in the noodles clumping together after a while. While the stall provides chilli separately, we thought the kolo mee would have gone better with sambal belachan, which would have provided an extra kick of flavour to the dish. Thankfully, the other ingredients were ok. The set cost $9 although you may wish to use a Burpple Beyond voucher, for which you would have to order an additional drink to enjoy a one-for-one promotion. Do support the stall if you are in the area and you are looking for a quick bite, as footfall in Icon Village is really poor during this period and many of the stalls have closed down.

Comfort Food Wasn’t informed beforehand that one of the items had to be gold jia xiang mee. But I was craving kolo mee so it still tasted good!

For 1-for-1 Main & Drink (save ~$10) Head over for lunch at Icon Village and enjoy a bowl of Sarawak style kolo mee, served with fried wanton, minced meat and char siew. Switch things up and order the Fish Fillet Mee ($7.50), which comes with two crunchy fish fillets fried to perfection over a bowl of QQ kolo mee! End off the meal with a refreshing drink. Zoodle Bolognese Zucchini for noodles gives it a nice clean taste, with a slight crunch. Soaks up the sauce really well, with the beef like impossible meat 🌱 This was definitely our favourite dish of the night.

Cashew based pasta Tried the cashew based pasta. Was quite good. But this outlet apparently does not accept the burpple beyond deal. Even after I showed the waitress that this is the correct outlet (vs serangoon one), she still said they are not on burpple. Weird...

Rebel Ultimate Breakfast ($19) Don’t be fooled - this Ultimate Breakfast is vegan. Rebellious indeed, because that pork sausage patty right there is all soy and no (real) meat. It’s Impossible! Accompanying it is a muffin topped with sautéed mushrooms, along with avocado, beetroot hummus, cherry tomatoes and shredded zucchini on the side. I liked the variety of colours in this dish, it was very pleasing on the eyes. The beetroot hummus is definitely an eye catcher with its creamy, bright pink appearance. For those that are a little hesitant about the beetroot - don’t worry because the beetroot taste isn’t that strong in the hummus. Being an omnivore that often orders full breakfasts, I felt that this dish lacked “vegan eggs”. It was an essential puzzle piece in completing the “ultimate breakfast” experience - because this didn’t seem very ultimate to me, just more like a sausage muffin with some veg on the side. It would be nice having scrambled eggs on the side as well seeing that there are already many vegan egg options on the market. It would also help in justifying the price tag of $19.. Perhaps a vegan would think differently? When I first laid eyes on Rebel’s vegan menu, I was definitely very confused. There were so many familiar names such as Unagi Donburi, to Grilled Chicken Quesadillas. It took me awhile to realize that vegan food has indeed come a long way with several meat replacements and even vegan alternatives for mayo, cheese and eggs. It’s great that restaurants like Rebel provide a place for people of different dietary choices to come together and enjoy their usual western food fare. Overall I think the vegan menu in Rebel is worth a try once for the experience - at least for omnivores/non-vegans like myself, which I can speak for more confidently. :P It was fun looking at the dishes and being like, woah, this looks and tastes pretty legit! Otherwise I probably wouldn’t return unless I was with someone vegan. If you do happen to be in the CBD area looking for food, and have a vegan or vegetarian friend with you, do add this to your repertoire of dining options! Impressive Bar Food & Interesting Beers Pictured: wings of darkness (recommended) and croquettes (not bad but nothing very unique) Also ordered: Char siew beef short ribs - soft and had a very nice char siew flavour👍👍 Fish Taco - guacamole tasted fresh, fish was well fried 👍 Nachos - good for sharing and dips were nice 👍 Miso hummus with puffed rice paper - dont usually like hummus but this was delicious 👍 Shoestring fries - average Had cumcumber pilsner which was quite refreshing

For 1-for-1 Bar Bites (save ~$15) Hailing from Saigon, head to this craft beer taproom on Tras Street for a night of beers on tap and Vietnamese-inspired bar bites. If you're feeling peckish, get their Cha Gio ($12) for Vietnamese pork and seafood deep fried spring rolls and Wings of Darkness ($14) for crispy chicken wings tossed with the hot & spicy original Heart of Darkness sauce, served with a side of blue cheese dip. Withover 20 selections of craft beer, Burppler Jason Wong recommends the hoppy and potent Kurtz Insane IPA ($17 per pint) as well as the light and refreshing Futile Purpose Cucumber Pilsner ($15 per pint).

Trade Over The River Heart Of Darkness is of course an excellent brewery, but don't overlook their underrated cocktail programme, which sees highly unique creations mixed seamlessly with their beers. Bordering on saccharine sweet, the base of this cocktail is made from a marriage of strawberries and cherries cooked sous vide with Oregon Pinot Noir, resulting in potent yet smooth elixir buoyed by a deep, fruity flavour. Thankfully, said sweetness is reigned in by the effervescence of cola, and tempered by the subtle chocolatey-ness of a dash of their superb Director’s Cacao Nib Porter. - Pro-tip: Alongside a selection of beers and one main dish, this was one of two cocktails available on Heart Of Darkness’s $88++ 2-hour brunch free flow. Magnificent value if you ask me. Taste: 3.5/5

Not bad, reminiscent of a good laksa bowl! Dry Laksa ($18 1 for 1 with #burpplebeyond) - though the noodles were abit too soft, the sauce is thick and very flavourful, just like a good bowl of laksa. They gave 4 pretty huge prawns which were all plump and fresh! Not bad can try.

Pretty delicious Mentai Don! Salmon Mentai Don ($18 1 for 1 with #burpplebeyond) - mentaiko really can't go wrong and for this bowl they were pretty generous with the amount of sauce! As for the salmon pieces, it seems like it's lesser than that of Chirashi. I still love the rice in here! The onsen egg just pairs well with everything in here 😍

Chunky fresh pieces of sashimi, not bad Lecoq Chirashi ($16 1 for 1 with #burpplebeyond) - pretty generous with the sashimi ingredients, the sashimi pieces were fresh and chunky! I must say they gave alot of rice, but I ain't complaining because their rice were well seasoned and pretty darn addictive. Love the onsen egg as well, as it acts as a good medium to combine everything together!

Salmon Don The salmon taste normal but salmon portion is rather generous

Grape Ricotta Juicy grapes sitting atop ricotta cheese spread on a fluffy and thick brioche drizzled with lavender-infused honey, topped with grounded pistachio and matcha powder 》$15 Other than looking interesting and aesthetically tasty, I find the taste pretty expectable. The taste of ricotta was light and the scent of lavender was stronger than the taste of matcha powder on the grapes. The grapes were fresh, plump and juicy which did not disappoint. I would say the toast was done so well that it did not turn soggy even till the last bite. Something light and simple yet pleasing.

Poet's Poison Love this friendly little Whisky bar and this cocktail with Robert Burns Malt Whisky and Raspberry Vodka Liqueur in the test tube that you can add for additional poison. A cocktail for those who like it just a teeny bit sweet whilst still being a strong drink.

Beef Pho ($8.90) Comforting bowl of beef pho. Beef was tender and portion was substantial. Added some chili padi in the soup for a touch of spice.

Hearty Bowl Of Pho Restaurant was quite empty on a Sat lunch time. Ordered the beef noodles and was pleasantly surprised! Soup was tasty and beef slices were generous. $9.90 for 2 bowls (1 for 1) was great value! Spring roll was also crispy. Will be back if they are still around!

Burpple Beyond 1-for-1 Main ($9.90) Came here after reading good reviews but was disappointed by the food. However, food was extremely affordable breaking down to only $5/pax with the Burpple deal since there was no service charge or GST. Boy: Combination Beef Noodle ($9.90). Was served the wrong dish but didn't rectify the order. Noodles only had lean meat. Found it okay, but a little salty. Says he can't compare it to any benchmark because he doesn't have Pho much. Was very thirsty after the meal. Girl: Chicken Noodle Soup ($8.90). Found there to be lack of layers where flavor is concerned. Perhaps used to Pho being slightly sour. Soup base had too much fish sauce so it was super salty. Found the food disappointing but edible at first, but by the end of the meal felt quite disgusted by the dish. Another strange thing was that they did not offer any condiments. Usually there are 4 to 6 different condiments available for Pho but there were none in this restaurant. Overall, we give the food a combined rating of 4/10. Boy found the taste good but that it was also too salty, and girl just found it bad for Pho. Maybe the only saving grace was the Mint and Lime Soda ($3.80) we ordered, which was refreshing after the salt-loaded soup.

Awesome ice cream joint!! $5.20 for the regular cup but the portion is actually not that little. We chose the Kochi Yuzu and Granny's favourite - both of which were their Signature flavours. Taste and texture were on point and there is really nothing to complain about at all. Lovely experience in a cosy air-conditioned environment with power plugs almost everywhere. Will definitely return for their seasonal flavours.

Founded by wife-husband team of Eunice Soon and Chronos Chan in September 2005, this long-serving brand is known for their creative international flavours. . A typical daily range features between 18 to 36 flavours from their impressive catalogue of 180 flavours of ice cream. . The Triple Thai Coconut and Taiwanese Sesame Brittle, in a cup, have similar creamy sticky thick texture, the former smooth with floral earthy milky sweet flavour, the latter grainy with earthy nutty toasty sweet flavour. . The former is made with coconut gelato, coconut meat, and coconut water jelly; the latter is made with black sesame gelato, and sesame seed brittle. . The Yali Poached Pear and Hummingbird, in a cone, have similar creamy sticky thick texture, the former juicy with fruity floral sweet flavour, the latter chunky with fruity spice earthy sweet flavour. . Lovely flavours! @tomspalettesg is familiar to many throughout the years, due to their huge variety of flavours and quality gelato! Do expect to find flavours that are interesting as well, such as Nasi Lemak and pipagao! However, my favourites are still their alcoholic flavours, as they remained pretty strong throughout the years! The Guinness Chocolate was a good blend of flavours, with the aromatics of the chocolate complementing well with the rich roasty flavour of the stout. This was not too sweet as well. The Rum & Raisin is a classic favourite, with a strong rum flavour. The vanilla milk base was rich and fragrant to begin with, making this such a hit! However, it can be a bit sweet so maybe a contrasting flavour might help. One of my favourite dessert places to go!
