Dim Sum Siew Mai, Har Gao ($5); Salad Prawn Dumplings, Steamed Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce ($4.50); Ma Lai Gao ($3); Char Siew Bao, HK Egg Tarts ($3.50), Mixed Pig Organ Porridge ($5)
Generally quite satisfied with the spread! The ones I would go for again are:
- Ma Lai Gao: super soft and fluffy and jiggly, with a light brown sugar taste; I liked it a lot!
- Siew Mai: v juicy and bouncy, generously filled with meat and a thin layer of skin.
- Egg Tarts: got these free with >$30 spend! Tart crust was buttery and lightly crunchy, custard was smooth and not too sweet. Must eat there, I dapao-ed 2 bc we were too full and my sis found it soggy and discernibly sweeter a few hours later in the evening.
- Char Siew Bao: fluffy soft bun, filled with sweet savoury meat. Was v saucey especially when hot! When it cooled down it was less saucey as the bao soaked up some of it and was better able to contain the filling without spillage. Not say MUST try but still a nice csb.
I was neutral about the:
- Salad Prawn Dumplings: they were nice and crisp, filled with a nice bouncy prawn filling, but I found the residual oil on the plate a bit off-putting and they arenāt in my usual dimsum list anyway
- Porridge: the consistency was like a soupy starchy porridge, itās alright but not my favourite. The meatballs were nicely seasoned, pork slices were tender. Didnāt eat the organs bc I donāt like them but my bf said they were alright!
Wouldnāt order again:
- Har Gao: the prawn filling is juicy and plump, skin was decent but I didnāt like they put some sort of vinegar in it. I like sour stuff but I donāt expect Har Gao to be sour!
- Steamed Pork Ribs: was alright, tender but I didnāt like the beany/floury thing they placed on top? And the flavour was too peppery for my liking. I wna taste the natural sweetness of the pork ribs. My bf liked this tho so itās a personal preference thing.
