Prawn fried rice at only $2, what a steal! Added a fried egg with chicken at $1. It comes with a bowl of free soup which is quite tasty. The boss kept the price low intentionally during this sensitive period. Acts of kindness like this, restore my faith in humanity.
Opted for the one without azuki beans as I don’t like overly sweet stuff. Chose the least amount of sugar at 30%, the sweetness is just nice. Strong and fragrant matcha taste without being too bitter.
The pasta was good, I like the sauce. As for the meatballs, I find it too soft for my liking. It doesn’t have the meaty, bouncy bite that I’m looking for in a good meatball.
Decent bowl of Yong Tau Foo. It’s not the best ytf I had but for the price it’s definitely value for money.
This is my go-to place for affordable lunch in town. One of the hidden gem. Didn’t expect much from this white beehoon but this is surprisingly good. I’ll say it’s even better than the famous stall I’ve tried at Bukit Timah food centre. Generous ingredients are given, the broth is tasty and sweet. Surprised to see the huge fried omelette hidden under the beehoon. I have only one complain, most of the lala were empty shells except for two pieces lol~
Open on weekdays till 2.30pm but most stalls are closed by 2pm.
This beetroot risotto is so pretty! Risotto was good but the wagyu beef patty is a little tough and on the salty side. Oh and they forgot to give me the onsen egg.
You can never go wrong with their risottos. Salmon was nicely done, you can easily cut it with the spoon. Add $5 to make it a set (soup + drink). Made a mistake to order the broccoli & cheddar soup. Don’t get me wrong, the soup is really nice but the meal became a bit jelat towards the end as the risotto also contain feta cheese. The latte was good too!
Their meatballs and ngor hiang are the best! Must order! Remember to request to separate the fried items, else they will just put together with the soup.
I didn’t know there was another hill street fried kway teow in Chinatown. Unlike the one at Bedok, this one was a bit low profile. I was attracted by the fragrant of the fried kway teow from a few hundred meters away. It’s not the best one I had but it had a gd amount of wok hei and old school taste. A pretty decent plate that’s worth the calories.
I’m so glad this is back! It’s more expensive than the usual🍦 but it’s worth it! Strong taste of sweet potato! If you like purple sweet potato, you will love it!😋
Love their fresh handmade ingredients especially the prawn. I used to eat this frequently when I work nearby. You can upsize your beehoon with no additional charge. They increase price and I also noticed they gave less ingredients now. 🤷🏻♂️
Served with a generous serving of crispy pork chop, the pork chop is well-marinated and tender. The curry gravy reminds me of laksa gravy. It kind of tastes like a mixture of laksa and curry gravy, creamy and tasty in a good way and not too spicy. The hor fun is smooth and goes really well with the curry gravy. Pretty good, I’ll definitely try this again when I’m around this area.
