Push aside the over hyped salted egg onion rings.
The rice bowls are what people come / return for! I got this with a set. Earl Grey tea was overpowering though, with the short time it was immersed. The seaweed fried tofu was interesting.. Everything was perfect except the overdose of spring onions (personal peeve).

If still tasted so good delivered, I can't wait to try the others dined in..
Everything was delish, rich in their own flavours but not overwhelming.. can't have enough of the wings.. 😍

It is not as fantastic as how the person who recommended this raved about. But the taste is nostalgic, brings back memories from even before Bugis was littered by Chong Qing steamboat...
Since pricing is a la carte, we don't have to stuff ourselves. This should be the cheapest a la carte steamboat in Singapore.
And for the price, the food is incredibly fresh.. I do not like fishes that are usually used in steamboat (should be toman) as they have what Chinese say "soil taste" (土味 literally 😛). Their fish has nothing of that. The meat was well marinated & tendered. And the prawns are huge!
For those who doesn't drive, the walk down the slopes and stairs to the MRT will help with the full stomach.

Laksa Goreng anyone? I was expecting something more westernised and creamier.
This is more like a Fried Laksa I had elsewhere.. It's not bad though not much to rave about.

Not only are the food loved by locals, they are done in the traditional way in good taste.. not so much like the commercial taste elsewhere in food courts.. Out of the way for me but I'd definitely hope to dine here more often..

Creamy and savoury but not jelak at all..
Wiped the bowl clean in minutes..

I'd returned in a week just for this!
Ignoring all the hype for their popular Laksa pasta, I stayed faithful.. Sadly, I was a little disappointed.. I guess I came back with imaginary expectations..
Will definitely still return, to try the famous Prawn Laksa Pasta!
