Pork belly only comes second to bacon for me. Tender on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Each strand of meat and fat just melts once you bite into it. Goes real well with the fried polenta squares like a lucky blind date - it just works.
Definite recommendation for this jewel of an appetizer. So after you wine it out at Calistoga, drop by St. Helena for Cook Tavern - a no BS hole-in-the-wall offering dangerous cocktails and even more sinful food.

Avocado purΓ©e, spiced romaine, crema - $12
My girlfriend's fave at Cook Tavern. The duck confit was rich and meaty that goes well with the mellower cooler taste of avocado. This is a definite crowd-pleaser and a must-have when visiting this hole-in-the-wall joint at St. Helena.

An overall good dish, this freshwater fish called arctic Char with beans and chorizo is a good dinner option: filling but not heavy. The dish was advertised as crispy skinned, which unfortunately did not come out crispy. But the fish itself was tender and flaky. Love everything about the dish except the cicerchia beans which is just a lesser known name for chickling vetch or grass peas. They're supposed to be tender, but mine was pretty half-cooked and tough. Plating was artistic, which is really why I wanted to treat my girlfriend to dinner at Lure and Till for a post Valentines date. Highly recommend this spot, for the ambience, food and drinks!
