Interesting flavours for pie!
The strawberry lemon pie was very refreshing and unlike most of your usual pies which are sweet and far from acidic. This pie could be a little too sour for those who do not appreciate sour dishes. However, it was just right for me as the torched meringue neutralised the sourness from the filling. The pastry tho was not as buttery or flaky as I had hoped for. For the pumpkin pie, it does not have a strong taste when you first bite into it. The sweet potato kind of taste only comes in after a while. For the accompanying cream, you could see black specs and thatâs because they use real vanilla to make it! Pretty good effort!
On a side note, because of the virus, we werenât able to eat in the store and had to find some table nearby to consume the pie

Honestly speaking,, this place doesnât give off the best first impression. Had I not know beforehand, I wouldnât have realise that this was a Japanese restaurant.
But pass the first impressions, the beef don was really good. I mean beef, truffle and egg is such a classic flavour pairing that it canât go wrong. The portion may look small but trust me, it is really filling. There was a right proportion of beef and rice. You can be assured that every scoop of rice is accompanied with some beef. Not just that, the truffle taste was prominent and you can taste it in every bite. The rice was done really well! It wasnât dry and not overly saucy. The egg also adds a nice rich and creamy flavour to the dish. Comparing the Angus to wagyu, it is definitely not as tender/ melt in ur mouth but it was still very tender and the flavour of the beef was not overpowered by the sauce or the truffle.
The only con would be that the restaurant seating only has bar facing seats and no table seats because of its Omakase style for dinner. Would not recommend this place for big groups.

Conveniently located beside the MRT, Bread Yard serves a pretty unique range of brunch items at an affordable price even without burpple (~$15) They have the regular brunch items like English breakfast and sandwiches as well as more unique ones like this Beef Kofta Shakshuka I ordered!
This dish had a a tomato sauce base that wasnât overly sour or sweet like pasta sauce. This was more like a rich meaty tomato base stew. After a while it can get quite filling however the bits of feta cheese brought a nice sour cream kind of kick making you want to eat more. The eggs were also cooked to perfection, with a runny yolk allowing you to adjust the acidity of the sauce. However, the beef was a bit dry but I guess the sauce makes up for it!
I also got myself a salted caramel latte! Though Iâm not a coffee drinker, I really enjoyed the latte. It wasnât acidic or bitter and the caramel wasnât overly sweet perfect for those who donât have a sweet tooth. The salt may sound weird however I felt that it complemented the coffee some how and made it really addictive HAHA wish they gave a bigger cup!
I would definitely go back to try the other items on the menu because they arenât something you can find at every other cafe. Itâs just that itâs a little far from central and there are many offices nearby so it can get really packed during lunch times and is not be the best place for a slow paced/chill peaceful weekday brunch :/

Not part of a burpple deal but a friend brought me here and this is still something worth mentioning đ€©
Pear was tender, pancakes were fluffy and it really lives up to its name, EARL GREY pancakes. It kinda reminded me of earl grey milk tea :p pancakes werenât overly sweet despite how it looks. Itâs not too filling for brekkie or brunch!
We also tried the cheese toast which came with tomato soup. The tangy soup acted as a great dip for the salty cheese toast! It helped to reduce the âdrynessâ of toasts and cuts through the cheesy taste. Making the dish really addictive (we gobbled this down so quickly)
The cafe served really great chai latte too hehe. Great spot for brunch!

Highly recommend this place especially on a rainy day :) I ordered the spicy and sour soup base as well as the dry noodles with mushroom sauce and shrimp balls which came in a tomato broth!!
The soups were VERY flavourful and rich. The tomato soup was really tangy. Itâs similar to minestrone but itâs thicker, slightly more Sour and has a meaty flavour. The spicy and sour soup was similar to mala soup but not as spicy and numbing and was very easy to drink. The portions were also just right.
It is affordable even without the burpple discount, $15 nett for a bowl. If you go during lunch, itâs $10 nett for the lunch set which includes a side an a drink! Would definitely go back if Iâm in the area !

Had a really good time at the restaurant! The staff (esp the uncle) were friendly and the food was good too. Ordered a medium rare aust ribeye steak and Aqua Marine mocktail. The steak was cooked to perfection and it was juicy and flavourful even without it being drenched in sauce. The other components were really tasty too! Mash potatoes were fluffy and nicely seasoned, the asparagus were grilled giving them a nice roasted buttery taste and the mushrooms were juicy and had a somewhat truffle taste. My friends and I really enjoyed the dish and cleared everything on the plate!
Havenât tried many mocktails but I would say this isnât too bad but I would drink the tango berry in my next visit as it less sweet and has a fruity taste!

after gst and service charge, the dish was $15.90. as usual, was very excited to taste it because of the truffle but i could only smell it at the start when it was served after which the smell or taste was not detectable :-( however, the staff was very polite and the cheese was really stretchy hehe the sauce was not bad, slight sweet while still salty and there was a good mix of macaroni and mushrooms :-) wasnât âjelatâ for me and the texture was good! only disappointing thing was just the truffle. it was served sizzling btw so it looked really appealing đ€€

the beef laksa was quite spicy, itâs not for you if you canât take spice :-). for measurement, i usually eat the lowest level of spice for mala and this beef laksa was a little too much for me. however, the beef portion was generally generous.
not sure if itâs called the fling pasta, but itâs their signature laksa, if i remembered correctly. was quite excited about it since there was truffle but the truffle couldnât be tasted. apart from being able to smell it when it was first served, this truffle smell or taste didnât last very long. also, they were very generous with the mushrooms but the pasta portion was not proportionate :-(. also, the sauce was quite salty so after a while, the dish got quite a bit too much for me :-(.
as for the atmosphere, it was fine, but a little noisy like a regular cozy cafe. note that booking is required, at least when i visited it. but since there was a vacant unhooked space inside, we were able to use the space else we had to sit outside. and the owner was kind enough to let us sit in there till the next booking :â)
ordered the salmon mentai and beef don at $25 nett
salmon was salmon aburi and beef was cooked to medium rare, did not expect that but it made the textures of the salmon/beef was really good and complemented well with the rice. the mentaiko sauce on the salmon was torched which gave it a toasty hint, simply superb especially if you enjoy mentaiko! they were pretty generous with the ikura on top too. as for the beef don, the egg at the top added to the smooth texture and the white sauce was slightly tangy/sour, gave the beef don a little delightful twist. they were really generous with the beef too.
the normal price is at 15$ per dish and i would honestly pay for that when i can bc the quality is p worth it.
service was rlly good and they were really friendly !! also some cool japanese posters for deco round the cafe :-) the place was p small but cosy!

Ordered 4 eclairs and our personal favourite was the ispahan. The flavours of rose, lychee and raspberry were pronounced and was an interesting twist to the usual eclairs we know of. We also ordered berry (and lemon cream I think), earl grey and rose&lychee eclairs. They were not overly sweet and we could easily down many at one seating.
However the pastry was not the best. It was a little soggy and the eclairs were pretty pricey
Would go back when we feel rich. This is definitely not an everyday thing.
