Spicy Prawn Pasta Am a lover of spice and this pasta dish definitely has the right amount of spice! It hits you right on the spot, spicy yet super satisfying! Prawns are also fresh!

Har Cheong Gai Chicken Cutlet ($10) One of the dishes that i liked from :Dual is the Har Cheong Gai (prawn paste) Chicken Cutlet. The chicken was crispy and juicy, just a tad on the saltier side. But i’m a fan of stronger flavours anyway, so its not too much of an issue for me. Definitely recommend this as a side order for sharing! This cafe is a merchant on Burpple Beyond (1-for-1 mains) as well, so save more when you dine here!

Mentaiko Pasta ($15) Saw a review by a fellow burppler that this was one of the worst mentaiko pasta he ever tried, and i totally agree. Presentation wise it certainly looked good, and the pasta was quite well cooked but taste wise it was so bland with probably only the slightest hint of mentaiko taste if i’m being totally honest. I had a much better time with their other dishes which I’ll be sharing more about in my other reviews.

Truffle mac and cheese One of the sweeter and better mac and cheese! Also ordered the truffle fries and passion oolong hot tea that were both great too! Overall a good experience at Crossings cafe w friendly service by the staff!

Crossings Cafe 18 Dec’21, Sat🌤 📍Crossings Cafe - Pan-seared Barramundi🐟 - Truffle Fries🍟 - Flat White☕️ The barramundi is pretty good, crispy skin and tender flesh like cooked to perfection~ Truffle fries, the taste you and I know but this is a tad oily I would say… Flat white is quite decent, taste a little like medium roasted, nutty finish… Overall, generous portion and quite value-for-money! Their services can get a bit slow (half of their employees are special needs persons), but for a good cause (their profit goes to charity), wouldn’t mind coming back again~ Damage: $27.78 incl. of svc charge & GST

Rainy Morning Brekkie Steak was sous vide before being seared. Almost melts in the mouth. A little more charring will be nice. Lovely steak. Pickled red onions adds an interesting taste to the steak. Pretty filling.

Hidden buffet gem Free flow beef / chicken / salmon steaks, salads, pasta, freshly squeezed watermelon juice, and even satay at the price point of $50-ish is a steal! 🤩 Surprise surprise~ we enjoyed the chicken satay the most. But sadly, I just found out that this hidden buffet gem, Yummo Chow (at Hotel NuVe Heritage), is permanently closed on 27 Apr 2024. I heard the staff shared that they will re-open after the hotel is done with the renovation works. I shall look forward then. 🫡

Fried Chicken Burger Saving the best for the last, the fried chicken burger was probably the best dish of the night. The grilled chicken thigh was juicy and tender and the bbq mayonnaise sauce was well executed. This is one dish I wouldn't mind being back for. Yummo Chow is currently running a 90 minutes ala carte buffet for less than $40 per pax. It's good value if you consider the variety involved but just expect that there will be hits and misses... Double beef burger Yummo Chow's double cheeseburger was my least favourite dish of the night. At this price tag, I am kinda expecting a fresh beef patty. However, the beef patties looked like those you could have picked up from any grocery store (and tasted like one too). It's really hard to justify paying this price... Yummo Chow is one of those places that could do better. The execution for the dishes were actually decent or above average and their sauces were quite tasty. The main letdown for me was the quality of their ingredients. It's gonna be tough (even with their #BurppleBeyond 1-for-1 deals and affordable buffet promo) because people who visit this area probably can afford to pay and will naturally expect more. I am no restauranteur or F&B guru but it may help if they streamline their extensive menu to focus on certain dishes and put some work into their procurement process. I am rooting for them because I think their chefs are actually decent and their service staff lovely.

Eggs Bernadette Decided to try their brunch menu instead of their fish and chips/ lunch. This was decent, but not great. The entire combination was okay, but the bread was just a bit too cold and hard for my liking. Oh, but the iced latte was good!

Decent Food, But A Little Pricey Small little restaurant with 2 levels along Haji lane with a pretty nice and quiet ambience. Ordered the fish and chips, burrata, Welsh rarebit and an iced long black. The food was pretty decent, however overall we felt that it was slightly pricey. I would recommend to try their sourdough bread - that really stood out and paired well with the burrata! The fish and chips was really fresh! However, the long black was pretty diluted.

Used To Be Value For Money But Not Anymore Mad Sailors used to serve huge portions of fish & chips at an affordable price. They recently changed their menu and in my opinion, it's too pricey and portions are really small. Ambience and service were good but my friends and I agreed that with the price we paid, visiting a restaurant will make a lot more sense. We paid about $30 for roasted chicken and was expecting at least half a chix. But only 1/4 came. Presentation was on point but definitely did not justify the price.

Rose Latte Iced $7 Value for money for $7. Rose flavored latte. Right taste, right quantity. Decor and ambience of this place is just wow. Little hard to find near tanglin, but totally worth the visit. 5 stars

Avocado Toast with egg $13 Brilliant is the word. Ample avocado, enough egg. Perfect for a grand breakfast. Complete value for money Beautiful decor and amazing staff. 5 stars

Good Place! Repeat customers of the cafe, pictured is the big breakfast and lychee tea both of which were satisfactory and delicious!

Mango Berry Sunset [$20] Created in collaboration with Tanqueray, this cocktail was a very bright concoction, both visually and in taste, with quite a sweet-tasting mix of Tanqueray London Dry, Raspberry Puree, Lemon Juice and Mango.

Donut Balls [$15] We had the house-made Donut Balls for dessert. They are freshly fried on order and comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, crumbles, blueberries and a sweet blueberry date compote. The outmost layer of each ball had a pretty nice crunch, but it was unfortunately too dense and doughy past that.

Veggie Puttanesca Pizza [$22] The Veggie Puttanesca Pizza is a new seasonal main, featuring an all-vegetable assortment of toppings on a base decked with puttanesca sauce. It includes Kalamata olives, capsicum, Roma tomatoes, button mushrooms, yellow onions and arugula. Not a huge fan of the pizza base, as it was a little more dry and biscuity.

Burpple voucher is only for 1 item If you’re planning to use Burpple, take note that it is only for 1 applicable item. Prior to ordering, I had informed the staff that we were using it and they did not mention this. Upon checking the receipt and clarifying, they said that it was clearly stated in the T&C and only 1 voucher could be used for every 2 pax. I tried searching for this but no where was it stated. After looking at recent reviews from other outlets, it is clear that this wasn’t just due to my lack of conscientiousness. Overall, wouldn’t recommend this place mainly due to such practices. Food (coffee and brunch) and services were average at best. Burgers were almost bland and at this price point, I would say that there are a lot of better options out there. Won’t bother going back.

Perennial Favourite 🌟 Our party of 3 ordered the cheeseburger, which was good, because the patty was moist and juicy. The truffle mushroom pizza was great too, not too overpowering in terms of the truffle taste, yet sufficient to complement and bring out the flavours of the mushroom. The fish tacos is always my favourite to order because of how delightful the fruits and the fish prove to be refreshing. Ideal for sharing.

Mentaiko Salmon Don I finally tried their Mentaiko Salmon Don (cooked) ($17.90) after so long of wandering for at least 2 years ago. Back in 2018, I went to Japanese Curry Express for Salmon Mentai Don with one of my poly friend. She also ordered same as me that time but we didn't wanted to share together because the portion was quite small but its quite filling tbh. I saw @foodee.diaree's reviews for 2 weeks ago and reminded me the shop still opened at there till now. I preferred Mentaiko Salmon Don to be uncooked but my stomach got some problems with diary products (I didn't want to take risk anymore and need to play safe) I felt that it was quite overwhelmed with mayo but I felt that their salmon was really fresh and so good.

Wagyu Beef Don I did asked my friend about differences between Tanuki Raw and Rakki Bowl for Wagyu Australian Wagyu MB5 (Signature Truffle Wagyu Don) - $14.90. She didn't answered my answers lol. (probably I just want to know the differences in terms of taste and pricing) I knew the pricing differences between australian and japanese wagyu in terms of quality.

Delicious Salmon Don Tamago is sweet and salmon not overly cook. Overall food is delicious Just that the music play in the store is weird

Crab Meat Tagliatelle ($24) Don’t usually go for crab pastas, but was impressed by this! Pasta was done al dente, and was well coated with the savoury-sweet tomato sauce. There was a relatively generous serving of crabmeat too, which had a nice bite to it. I enjoy rookery’s menu offerings, and it’s great that they offer 1-4-1 on burpple, eatigo and shopbackgo! Ate here rather often last year. However, I don’t think I would visit as often if not for the 1-4-1, as it can get pretty pricey!

Pork Chop 💵: $30 🤔: Meat wasn't the most tender, but is really well-marinated and tasty. Definitely worth the higher price tag it came with!

Open-faced sandwich with pulled pork and poached eggs This was named “Eggs Benedict with pulled pork” on the menu. But I think it should just be renamed as how I’ve titled this review. There’s no hollandaise to go with the ‘eggs benny’ and also, who pairs eggs benny with pulled pork?! (Ok yes there’s the option for smoked salmon but I just wanted pulled pork and so this was what I got) My colleague had the smoked salmon version but there was no hollandaise too! Whatever the name is, the runny yolk and pulled pork combi on pretty fluffy toast + some furikake and sesame seeds were pretty awesome to start your day with. Tho with pulled pork, it’d probably work better with a sunny side up 🍳 ‘Also comes with some avocado 🥑 mash across the toast for some healthy fats!

Seafood Pasta Had the seafood pasta 1-for-1, and it was so good! All the seafood were fresh and pasta was al dente. Staff was very friendly and accommodating as well ~
