A living, breathing, fiery and tangy bowl of Assam Laksa in the flesh right here in Hong Kong... And in my neighbourhood no less. I'm beyond stoke to find this here, eventhough if its taste isn't as "powerful" as I would love it to be. It needed to be more fishy, was missing the unique flavours of bunga kantan (ginger flower) and had shredded cucumber replaced by chopped lettuce (why?). Honestly, it's not a half bad attempt by a local chef. And it was nothing this true blue Malaysian couldn't fix with a generous helping of thick hae ko (shrimp paste), chili padi and some lime juice. Order was restored momentarily before the waitress announced that they may discontinue this dish come September if demand doesn't pick up by then. Apparently it's not winning over the locals.
