Ordered 1-1 Jing Long Cai and Egg & Prawn Paste Chicken, Sweet and Sour pork. It would be suitable if you come in a bigger group as it comes in a large portion. Pretty worth it overall.
I honestly really enjoyed the thick curry that was super fragrant, not overly coconutty or cloying (read: not jelak), the fragrant spices clearly coming through; but I was a little disappointed at how there were almost no accompanying ingredients. One of my favourite things about fish head curry is the abundance of veggies in there — usually brinjal, tomatoes, okra even — and I was surprised to find barely a ladle’s worth of veggies in Fragrant Wok’s curry 😕 Still if you ain’t a sucker for the veggies like I am, you’d find the fresh fish and good curry pleasing enough.
Run by the owners of ever-popular Penang Bagus, you know you'll be in good hands at this zi char spot along Tampines St 91. Yam lovers, don't miss out on the Golden Yam Ring ($16) – fresh and creamy yam fried to a golden crisp, paired with cashew nuts, chicken and mixed vegetables. Other must-orders include the fragrant Sambal Sweet Potato Leaves ($15) and the umami-packed Trio Eggs Spinach ($18) served in a claypot.

Couldn’t finish and had to take away (+$0.30)
Celebrated my dad’s birthday in advance at Fragrance Wok Tze Char by Penang Bagus. 🎉🎉🎉While the food was generally pretty well done, the long waiting time (1 hour on a weekday night) was simply unacceptable. 🙅🏻♀️ Perhaps the dishes tasted better cuz I was really hungry by the time the dishes were served. 😂😂😂

As Teochews, we really adore our Yam dishes as it is with no doubt that we enjoyed the Yam Ring. ❤❤❤ The crispy exterior contrasted well with the firm yet creamy yam, making it a yammy affair especially when paired with other ingredients like cashew nuts, chicken chunks & mixed vegetables. 😋

While presenting a moderate spicy kick 🌶, the sambal kangkong had a slight bitter aftertaste - not recommended. 😔 Can’t go wrong with an omelette 🍳 but u have to settle for frozen shrimps. 👌🏻
.
The 2 meat dishes were decent but both meats can afford to be more tender. ✔ The sweet & sour pork leaned towards the sweet side, but I personally found the sauce to be pretty addictive. 😋😋😋 The crabs weren’t exactly the largest or super meaty but they sure were loaded with crab roe 🦀🦀 & I’m pleased that its flesh was sweet & firm, exemplifying its freshness. The sauce carried a good peppery punch but can be quite salty on its own - certainly goes well with rice. 👍🏻
.
While we were also charged $0.20 per wet towel, the cost of white rice ($0.80 each) was waived in compensation for the long wait. 👌🏻 With 1-for-1 deals using #BurppleBeyond, our bill totaled to $100.20 for 6 pax. Not a bad deal but I wouldn’t return if the long waiting time was a constant. 😔
Recommended by the stall auntie and did not disappoint! Ordered few dishes but too hungry forgot to take picture
Used Beyond Burpple super worth it. We ordered (large size):
1) Mongolian pork ribs $20
This was superb, our favourite among all. Also a chef recommended dish
2) Salted egg chicken $18
The chicken was not boneless as expected but tasted ok
3) Fuyong egg $10
Tasted pretty standard, not bad
4) Sambal sweet potato leaves $15
Yummy, the combination was perfect. I may be biased. I love vege
Party of 5, ordered 4 rice, total damage $38.20 thanks to Beyond Burpple
